mobile

Photographs of an upcoming Android smartphone from HTC, the HTC Amaze 4G, have been leaked alongside purported preliminary specifications. Thai-language Android news site Droid Sans obtained the images and specs, which line up with exclusive details reported by BGR last month. Highlights include a 4.3-inch qHD display, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera, 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM and HSPA+ 42 compatibility for use on T-Mobile’s network, among others. According to earlier reports, the Amaze 4G could launch next month in the U.S. Additional photos of the HTC Amaze 4G follow below.

The amazing thing that stands out to me is that in these pictures, it isn’t using HTC Sense. It’s using Vanilla Android. Perhaps, they haven’t gotten the UI to be stable on this yet?

I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use l-k.be/9l

There is still traces of sense in there just in the notifications panel. So who knows?

    • Panamera

I’ve heard that stock Android is only included on test devices, and that the final version of the Amaze will (unfortunately) ship with HTC Sense 3.5.

Fixed your post.  Sense runs laps around stock Android.  And that definitely is Sense.  It has the dark notification bar… that alone makes it better, before we even get to all the other enhancements to stock.

      • iTroll123

The dark notification bar is also in Android 2.3… :-/

Also if you look at the pic showing the back of the device, it says “with HTC Sense” on the very bottom of the device.

I was just wondering that myself. That’s almost a sin nowadays to have an HTC Android Phone without Sense on it… Very interesting

HTC and DROID OS pushing the envelope as usual!!!

    • http://twitter.com/AmaSan25 Amaurys Sanchez

its ANDROID OS not DROID OS..

      • Anonymous

        No it’s not

      • Anonymous

        Don’t mind Norm. He’s a troll.

      • Bullet Tooth Tony

I’d argue the opposite is true.  Norm, Goofan and Macboy post every day… in almost every post.  That makes them regulars.  These people that post back at them… they’re hit and run posters… that’s much more trollish.

….”droid” is short for android idiot. Guess everyone has to start calling Bill Clinton, William Clinton now. >:-/ noob

      • Coop2770

Actually Amaurys is right! It is called the andriod OS, not droid os. Droid is a line of phones android os is an OS. You wouldn’t call the windows phone 7 “dows phone 7″. I started with the “O.G.” HTC G1back in ’08, so i’m no noob, I know what i’m talking about.

      DROOOIIIIIDDDD

I hope it releases like that.  Vanilla Android on an HTC device.  Haven’t seen that on an HTC since the nexus One I think.

    • Anonymous

HTC G2 on T-mobile came after the Nexus One. I believe it’s stock Android as well.

I’m loving the specs of this phone especially the 8 MP camera.  Might have to get this over the Sensation when it is upgrade time!

    This looks wack.
No wonder T-Mobile picked it up, lol

Tmobile has a reputation to uphold here….picking up Beta products and the stuff other carriers passed on

all htc phones are like that!  HEAVY THICK CRAPS!  when i think of htc, the first thing come to my mind is HEAVY THICK CRAPS!

        Not my Droid Incredible 2!

The Sensation isn’t thick at all and most people prefer a phone with an adequate amount of weight.

      • theguyirepliedtoisanidiot

wtf phone are you using? HTC makes the BEST phones and my phone is only 5oz. I know that’s heavier than your dick, but still not a heavy device. The heavy thick craps you are talking about probably should be checked out by your doctor or you need a lot less fiber in your diet.

Is this for real? I just ?$@ my pants. I can’t believe this is for real. Its like an 8th wonder or something. Wow. Genuinely wowed by this magnif creation. Wow.

Someone’s gonna get in trouble… Blurry cam shots seldom show IMEI or SN information so clearly… HTC will track this down quick I’m sure.

  • Cameron Rankin

It looks as if this handset might be HTC’s response to Samsung’s Nexus ‘Prime.’ And if so, what are the specs for the Ruby’s screen resolution? 720p? Ice Cream Sandwich?

    • http://twitter.com/_elemenopee_ Kavin Nguyen

It says qHD right there in the article.

  • Dude

You a buy an Android device today, a week later, a new one comes out.

    • Anonymous

So you would rather stick to 2 yr old tech?  lol  No thanks…

Implying that 2 years old tech isnt stable and doesnt work

What’s the point of this phone on T-Mobile. It’s an overclocked Sensation without Sense.

    • http://twitter.com/_elemenopee_ Kavin Nguyen

Faster processor, more RAM, and HSPA+ 42 are good enough reasons for people to choose this over the Sensation. I’m also betting the production cost is lower than the Sensation. So it’s a plus for everyone.

      • http://rpad.tv RPadTV

Better camera too. It’s supposed to use the same lens and sensor as the MyTouch 4G Slide.

    • http://twitter.com/AngstKeiner AngstKeiner

Personally, having an Sensation 4G, I would *prefer* having vanilla Android to having Sense 3.0 and all the garbage that comes with it mucking up the performance therein.
That’s totally a No-brainer.   At least give me the option of shutting off the crap I don;t want instead of forcing it down my throat.

      • Anonymous

i’m a bit of a noob, but what performance is it hogging up ?

  • Zephyr

I am so disappointed in T-Mobil service on Cape Cod.  I think I will have to leave them when my contract is up.

    • searchmaven

I was on the Cape this past weekend and my Sensation kept losing signal. One minute it would be full 4G and the next a little x with no signal.

  • Anonymous

These should have been the specs the Sensation 4G came with.

  • Anonymous

This isn’t Vanilla Android, its just sense with a gingerbread launcher screen covering it. You can easily download one from the market.

  • pmhee

It wasn’t exactly a leak; it was openly shown at a Truemove H event in Bkk.

  • guest12345

vanilla android is a lot better than screwing up the UI with added features like Sense 3.0. Of course, vanilla droid is for the hardcore android fans, while pretty little Sense is better for the noobs.
