Windows Phone Mango HTC Eternity and HTC Omega specs leaked

mobile

HTC has a press event scheduled for Thursday evening during the IFA trade show in Berlin, and purported specs for two phones BGR exclusively reported will make their debut, the Eternity and Omega, have been leaked by BuyMobilePhones. The HTC Eternity appears to be the more refined of the two devices and is said to be equipped with a single-core 1.5GHz processor, 16GB of storage, a 1,650 mAh battery, support for 14.2Mbps HSDPA networks, an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p video and a 1.3-megapxiel camera for video chats. The HTC Omega reportedly has a 3.8-inch display, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera and support for 14.2Mbps HSDPA networks. It is unclear if the Omega also has a front-facing camera, but given Mango’s support for video chat, we suspect that it does and we’ll certainly learn more during HTC’s press conference later today.

Sweet. Your move on the WP7 front Samsung!

  • Gag

These phones do not cut the mustard. Why am I not seeing 4 inch phones with 1080p video recording? These phones don’t even measure up to the Galaxy S 2. Windows Phone needed killer hardware to impress and JUST LIKE LAST YEAR, it is still behind Apple and Google in terms of hardware. Let’s see what Samsung has to offer. But with no one else really making hardware, MS really has to hope Samsung will deliver.

First of all Android needs big hardware because their software blows and filled with fragmented crap. Second, Apple doesn’t need dual core phones, they run fine the way that they are. I have a 1GHZ HTC HD7S Windows Phone and the speed it perfect. Adding some fancy processor will just raise the cost of the phone.

I own an Android device that runs Eclair(2.1) and I can run every single app from that device that I can from my Droid Incredible on the latest Gingerbread build(2.3.5) which leads me to believe that none of you even know what fragmentation is.

Considering some apps only have support for Android 2.2 and above, even apps that come from Google require 2.2 or above, Im going to say that you are a liar

Grizzly I’m an Android fanatic, but I’ve seen you post that you don’t own a single Android device before… strange.  And no, I’m not going to search through the BGR archives to prove my point.  Just own up.

      • Anonymous

Yet Apple’s next iPhone will be dual-core.?  It’s called processing power for games and other graphically intensive applications you shrill.  It doesn’t take much to navigate a UI.  And what does fragmentation have to do with this article again?  Oh yeah it’s a buzzword for the… ^Clueless^

Who the fuck needs 1080p video recording on a Phone. This phone is awesome [Eternity]. You say behind google because it doesn’t have 2.0 quad core processors? No need to drive up the price of the phone adding parts just to please spec whores. I agree the Galaxy S2 is sweet. I prefer WP7 OS. You should just go pick up a GS2 and be happy.

    • Qbarrel

Agreed. I am really intrigued by WP7 and really want to give it a serious look, but can’t someone make a handset worthy of the OS?  The hardware continually feels like it’s a generation behind. I’m not sure if this is because Microsoft is dictating the standards here, or maybe Mango doesn’t support multi-core CPU’s yet – I don’t know.  It sure is frustrating to keep seeing these handsets roll out that barely have more horsepower than my Droid 2.  Nokia makes some great hardware, but my god – how long is it going to take them to start making WP7 hardware? I really thought that Microsoft had a real shot with this OS, but now it really does look like they are just too late to the party. Shame.

You are being ridiculous. These 1.5 Ghz processors will absolutely destroy your Droid 2 and they will seriously outperform every dual-processor phone currently on the market as well because most applications for smartphones are still single-threaded.

      • Gag

I wasn’t really trying to start anything but okay, you guys make a good point…..if we can get a good ratio of performance to battery life, no need to sweat the details. I’m very happy with the screen size of the Titan and I just can’t wait to find out about the rest of the specs.

    So…. which one is which?

    • http://twitter.com/MikeElGiga23 Mike

@twitter-121499929:disqus small white one is omega and the big one is eternity

Anyway why do spec whores keep raving about dual core processors? Android needs it because its poorly coded and none of them make real use of it because its a one size fits all OS, it doesnt have true well written drivers for it since its all generic unlike Microsoft that optimizes the OS for the Snapdragon CPU thus making a first gen chip still able to outperform most current dual cores running Android

now they are adding the second gen Snapdragon(same that the Thunderbolt, G2, myTouch 4G, Desire HD have) and its a really good chip in the cpu and gpu department so with Microsoft’s magic again we will outrun all dual cores once again no doubt

still 1gb ram would have been nice, and wvga on a 4.7 screen worries me in the ppi department

  • treotowinm6todroidtowm7

if wm7 has a lighter footprint, needs less resources, etc., then it doesn’t need as high end processor to get the same performance. Translation:lower cost and better battery life, which right now is the bane of current high end smartphones!

I agree, the hardware isn’t the end all and be all with Windows Phone 7 (I actually do tech support for this stuff). Android runs into the same issues regardless of what device it is because while users on this forum may know how to upkeep a device, your average consumers does not and it causes massive frustration for customers who shouldn’t own those devices in the first place. Windows Phone (like iPhone) make it easy for customers to use the device with minimal upkeep and exceptional performance. Mango RTM is running great on the phones I have loaded it on…

  • Makoute

That phone is pretty much an HD7.

  • Anonymous

best of luck to mango…going up against galaxy S2 and iphone 5.

  • What?

    Why no microsd support?
