        Calm down!

It’s just opinions and my opinion is that cross- platform group chat will win.

  • Ray Mush

i predict it won’t as popular

    • Retrofreak2

Agreed, but it may force Apple and Rim to make their messenger services cross platform.

Competition makes for better products, which is better for us the end users.

      • http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/ BoyRetardedReport

well your prediction is wrong dipshit i don’t EVER see bbm on another brand EVER

  • Phed_Up

    What about a desktop version?

If you want to be “everywhere” then the mobile platform can’t be your logical boundary.

Also, no video chat?  I think any “chat” option should include that out of the gate nowadays, and for ALL phones, not just the front camera ones.

    Just my 2c!

    • Retrofreak2

Agreed, my money is on Facebook Messenger or iMessage (if/when it supports cross platform group chat).

Google Talk currently offers this on Android(2.3.4+), not sure if it is even available for other devices but I use it regularly on my Android handset to video chat.

Just wait until 1) Apple sues them for copying something from somewhere
    2) AT&T charges for using it since they lose txt message revenue.

As the famous XKCD comic goes:

Situation: There are 14 competing standards

14?! Ridiculous! We need to develop one universal standard that covers everyone’s use cases.
    Yeah!

    Soon…

Situation: There are 15 competing standards

  • Max

    Bye bye, RIMjob.

    • Applesucksfatties

      Maxi..
You really have a hard on for RIM, don’t you?  If it has RIM/BlackBerry/PlayBook anywhere in the article, it is a guarantee that you’ll be out here spouting your ‘wisdom’.  Note to you and your Chief Anal Officer Scroat..  RIM isn’t dead now.. nor will they be in 2 years.  People like BBs, they like physical keyboards, and they like BBM.   Is RIM perfect, no… but not everyone HAS to like Apple..  Get over it.. and move on.  Nobody wants to read your same shit posts..

  • Bryan Alexander

Well it is just another offering on the pile of what is already out there.  But nothing is going to “compete” with BBM, just like when iMessage is launched it can’t compete either.  They are OS specific.

  • Laurent

I think Samsung may actually have enough resources and product experience to make this work.

The most important thing will be a decent looking/working BB version of the app, I have no doubt the Android and iOS versions will be very good.

Yes there are many other cross platform chat apps, but all of them have something lacking and most have a poor BB experience (namely whatsapp and liveprofile).

As an iPhone user and iOS developer, i am very happy with a combination of iMessage and Whatsapp although i do miss the social features, status updates etc of BBM.

cool app, it does some things the others doesn’t. the thing is, getting it to catch on. making people leave whatsapp, liveprofile, kik, pingchat, msn, etc, for this will determine its success. the thing about bbm is that it comes with every blackberry, and just works how it is suppose to. rim had a problem with kik, now if they realize that this will kill bbm, they will reject it. now, if rim makes bbm cross platform, it will become very popular, and it will save their sinking ship, and this and all the other cross platform apps might just lose their popularity. because bottom line is, they are all trying to kill bbm, but none has managed to do it. bbm can kill them, and rim need to see this, and let everybody have it already.

    • http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/ BoyRetardedReport

let everyone have it? are you fucking dumb?

the ONLY reason people still have blackberries is the keyboard and BBM!!!

I would have an iPhone with BBM if it was possible!!

      Blackberry would die completely…
