mobile

Amazon’s wireless arm is having another big sale on 4G phones this weekend, with some of the lowest prices you’ll find on 4G LTE smartphones from Verizon Wireless. From now through Monday, August 29th, Amazon is offering the Samsung DROID Charge, the HTC ThunderBolt and the LG Revolution starting at just 1¢ each. To get the penny deals, you’ll need to open up a new individual or family account with Verizon Wireless; existing customers upgrading their phones will have to pay a premium. Links to each of the three deals follow below.

I thought “Droid Charge” was an honest name.  If it is anything like my wife’s TBolt, a charge is exactly what it will need every 9 hours or so.   (But I hear it actually has good battery life, maybe they should swap names.)

Remember everyone, pricing has nothing to do with Android’s success. /s

Because the bionic is around the corner. Don’t buy these.

Sure. If you want to spend $299.99 for the Bionic, don’t buy these.

That’s the subsidized price. The relative price difference over the contract term is small, and I think you would be a fool to sign a contract on any single core smartphone right now. Absolutely none of these first gen LTE phones were worth their original subsidized price, since the only spec that justified it was LTE. Combining that with poor battery life and old specs, these phones were a non-starter in the spring and look ridiculous now.

Remember, the DROID Charge was a ludicrous $299 on contract when it was released back in May. So it’s not such a bad deal.

Then again, you were able to get unlimited data from Verizon back then, so maybe it was worth the early-adopter tax.

I’ve been the UNHAPPY owner of the HTC EVO, EVO 3D and currently the Nexus S. As a former iPhone user, I can comfortably say Android phones, the lot of them are priced just right at 0.01 cent. Every Android that I’ve owned has randomly crashed AT LEAST every other day, frozen up at will, and been an all around POS. I will NEVER buy another one regardless of specs. I’m currently considering the Bold 9930, or I may wait to hear about iPhone 5. As far as Android apps are concerned, they are half baked and would NEVER pass Apple’s rigid quality control. ANDROID PHONES ARE JUNK. PERIOD.

Only reason your android crashes is because of all that porn that you downloaded, at least you had a choice to download it..

I will trade you a 3GS for your Nexus S?
