Verizon to carry BlackBerry Torch 9850 according to leak

mobile

Verizon will carry RIM’s new BlackBerry Torch 9850, according to a picture of a leaked advertisement obtained by CrackBerry. It is still unclear when the phone will launch, but given that it is pictured next to the aging Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play, we suspect Verizon could make the announcement in the near future. RIM revealed the Torch 9850 in early August and we had a chance to check it out first-hand during an event in Toronto. The web browser is much improved, we appreciated the thin form factor and the phone’s 1.2GHz processor zipped around BlackBerry OS 7. The BlackBerry Torch 9850 is equipped with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, 8GB of storage and a 5-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p video.

Looks fake considering the 9850 has raised buttons.

The 9850 has 4GB of internal storage and there were test units out there with both raised and capacitive buttons so its entirely possible that Verizon doesn’t want the raised button crap (which would be nice).

If you are a company struggling to survive (RIM) and you are finally getting on the touch screen bandwagon and it is 2011, would you create a flagship phone with a 3.7″ screen? Is RIM’s leadership mentally retarded?

Not everyone needs to have something the size of a tablet as a phone.

I would actually give it a try if it had 4G LTE.
