Sprint to offer iPhone 5 in October, WSJ reports

Breaking

In line with recent analyst speculation, Sprint will offer the iPhone 5 in the “middle” of October, The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, noting that the device will be sold at the same time as Apple’s current iPhone 4. That suggests that recent reports about the iPhone 4 being sold as a lower-priced option are accurate. Apple is expected to announce the successor to the iPhone 4 in September or October. The iPhone 5 is expected to be thinner and lighter than the iPhone 4 and recent reports have suggested that it will be a “bigger update” than expected. Other reports have also suggested that the device will offer an 8-megapixel camera and a dual-core processor.

Here is a point I’m not sure anyone mentioned; Sprint is the only one of the big four that has an unlimited plan. Imagine how attractive that looks to your average IPhone owner.

Sprint “are two” of the big four.

Oh you mean T-Mobile’s throttled “unlimited” plans? Yeah, that’s unlimited alright.

Ok people, here it comes.  It’s “put up” or “shutup” time for Sprint.  As I’ve said before… it’s going to be a matter of time before the entire legion falls in line with one another.  Well, we’ve got until the middle of Oct for the head scratching and number crunching to pull the ole rabbit outta the hat trick on us.   Will they or won’t they… the doors will be packed, for sure, as the deta deprived lurch into their showroom floors.  It’s going to be an interesting couple of months.

@MichaelBickers  – in fact, it does state that in the event of a customer diffusion situation, if the customer is still being verbally abusive, we had the right to drop that mother fucker.  And you better believe we did it too.  We hold the power, dont forget that.  :)

Can’t wait for Iphone 5. 2.3 Gingerbread sucks and the rooting method also

Well, my friend, it’s because you are not smart enough.  Android has been built to spec by Google for individuals with IQs above the 200 mark.  So we are an exclusive group my friend.  For more “regular” folks like yourself there’s Apple.

The iPhone on sprint is definitely good news to them, as they lost 100,000 subscribers last year, and I’m sure some of those that jumped ship for the iPhone. I’m excited if it is true spri t is the only carrier that has unlimited data, and that’s just fine for me.

Why does every comment section turn into a massive, sprawling penis comparing contest? Android, iOS, who cares? How old are you people? To each his own.

Well, in our case (Goofans aka Apple Haters) we are typically 20′s and live in our mom’s basement.  We have a tremendous fear of being rejected by our fellow geeks if they see us using/liking/touching an Apple product.  We think technology should be really complicated so our parents can’t use it and we typically don’t have girlfriends.

The Apple croud’s in it’s teens and think they are cool and rich.  I don’t know much more about them since obviously I am a Goofan (aka Apple Hater.)

      Does that answer your question?

    • Mr.Incredible

Come on now, you already know the answer to this question, cause EVERYONE IS STUPID! Does it really matter which one is THE BEST. When all is said and done, its all personal preference. I own an Apple computer, Android phone and tablet. Sprint getting the Applephone (tired of all the “i” whatever crap) is just good business. And all you people that are bitching about BGR printing this article, this is a tech site and there’s not always breaking news, so they report what they have.  You people do make me laugh tho, keep up the hilarious comments people. It helps me get through these dull days :)

If only they WERE hilarious; most are tedious, ugly little rants and insults with NO class, style or content…

Cuz I have a big cock and you don’t.

Noooooo no iPhone on sprint! I like my fast data speeds!!!!

    • zacamandapio

      Since when is CDMA  fast?
      Maybe for 2006 standards.

  • Chachtastic1

And the last horse finishes the race….and gets turned into glue because no one likes a slow horse.

  • Mac

If TMo gets the iPhone, I would be so happy.  Hell, I would let Goofan and Norm do me anyway they wanted.

  • Jayca2010

Can’t wait to get a decent phone! Tired of my sad non-updated left by the waste side Palm Pre…

The days of unlimited data on Sprint are coming to an end….

  • SprintFan1

Well at least the iPhone doesn’t have the Sprint logo so Sprint customers don’t have to be embarrassed anymore.

But the slow 3G/2G network speeds with no simultaneous voice/data is a huge turn off for this device.

    • Deval

Verizon iPhones have the same issue no?

      • Bullet Tooth Tony

Sprint’s 3G speed make Verizon’s look like lghtning… but yeah, the current iPhone 4 can’t do voice and data simultaneously… doesn’t mean the 5 can’t tho, they’ve upgraded their network and the Thunderbolt performs that feat perfectly fine.. as an owner in a 3G-only area, I can attest to that.

      • Anonymous

Simultaneous voice and data is a non-feature feature, BUT it is not possible to do this via CDMA.  Until voice over LTE (not for a while) or WiMAX (not going to happen), you will not get voice and data on either Verizon or Sprint.

I love how because the WSJ is reporting it this is some big news today. Two months ago when I was talking with a sprint csr about my contract end date they asked if I was jumping ship for the iphone and that I needed to wait because they just had a all hands on deck meeting and were told that sprint would have a 4g iphone by year end. I dont apple products but this will do good for the company.

  • Uncle C

Any word on T-Mobile getting the iPhone?

  • Anonymous

Oh no!  Goodbye to my Unlimited data.  Maybe I will be grandfathered in, but I’m keeping my Android; you guys can have the iPhone.

  • Enoel69

It won’t be only on Sprint…i am pretty sure Apple will launch the iPhone 5 and 4S on all the big four Networks. Apple will be going hard on Android…as a matter of fact i love the competition. Google and its Android partners have to be prepared and  also come out swinging with monster devices this September and October. Google should launch the new Nexus phone on all the four major carriers as well to blunt the iPhone5 /4S assault.

Should be very interesting to see how that all turns out. Wow.
