iPhone 3GS free for one day only at Best Buy

Best Buy announced a one day sale on Monday during which it is offering Apple’s 8GB iPhone 3GS for free with a new or upgraded two-year AT&T contract. The device is available in Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores. The iPhone 3GS, which is listed for $49 on Apple’s website, lacks the Retina Display of the iPhone 4, has a slower processor and also doesn’t have a forward-facing camera for Facetime video calls. It offers a 3-megapixel camera, a 3.5-inch 480 x 320-pixel display, support for AT&T’s 3G network, GPS, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR and up to 5 hours of talk time on 3G networks. MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 21, 2011 — On Monday, Aug. 22, customers will be able to get a free AT&T 8GB iPhone 3GS at Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile specialty stores. This exclusive one-day offer is available in-store only on Monday, Aug. 22 either as new or upgrade with two-year activation.

Best Buy Mobile offers an array of services aimed at improving customers’ experience, including Walk Out Working, Upgrade Checker, Happy 24 and a full array of accessories for customers to protect and personalize their device.

      I got an iPad 2-32GB for $ 23.87 and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $ 38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $ 657 which only cost me $ 62.81 to buy.         Personally I don’t see any value in getting the 3gs, worst still for an apple fan with the iPhone 5 or whatever its called on the way.

    Poor Apple fans. They liked to use an argument that Android phones were selling better than iPhone only because of BOGO sales. Now, with free iPhones, one can argue that iPhone market share is kep afloat artificially solely because of free iPhone offers.

      It’s a one day sale for a 2 year old phone. They’ll be giving away 4G androids by Christmas while the iPhone 4 and 5 will fly off shelves at their same respective pricepoints. Numbers don’t lie, there’s no single android phone that sells even remotely as well as the iPhone 4 or 3GS.

    What a great deal! I mean, I can’t afford $200 for a newer iPhone 4, but I can sure afford the $100 per month data plan for the next 24 months. And by then, this device will only be 4 years old. Score!
