ASUS quad-core Eee Pad Transformer 2 reportedly delayed

Tablets

The sequel to ASUS’ popular Eee Pad Transformer tablet was set to be one of the first slates to hit the market with a quad-core Kal El processor from NVIDIA. According to a new report from Fudzilla however, the convertible Android tablet has been delayed. The report cites multiple sources in claiming the Transformer 2 was set to be unveiled this month but has instead been delayed for “at least a month or a bit more.” No cause for the purported delay was supplied. ASUS’ Eee Pad Transformer has been one of the more popular Android tablets to launch over the past year. Some reports suggest it is one of only a few such devices with sales that will reach up into the millions this year.

I’m starting to believe all these delays are fictitious.  Just pre-marketing for the people who watch these things.

      Dangerous imo.

People definitely get impatient, and if there is a “good enough” alternative released before, without a CLEAR release date to wait for, people often just buy it now.

Nobody wants these things & it’s becoming apparent to all involved. They can’t compete with the iPad. If they were selling any significant numbers, they’d be telling everyone.

Wrong! They were selling like hotcakes at Office Depot when I went and got mine. It only took me 10 minutes with sampling it and I was sold. It’s so easy to blindly generalize so I never take anyone (like you) seriously the interwebs.

What the hell are you talking about? The Transformer and Galaxy Tab are selling very well. They haven’t even been out a year, how bout giving them some time to catch up to market share? Not the mention that the Transformer had supply issues thanks in part to the tsunami that led to a shortage. This just sounds like the same kind of bullshit people were saying about phones. Now look at Android. Leading the market.

I beg to differ. The Teansformer is a great tablet. iPad is, and probably always will be number 1 because it is a very solid tablet. I own both the iPad and the Transformer and would recommend either one. There are several things I like better about the Transformer, believe it or not. Looks like HP may discontinue their tablet.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. You were being sarcastic there right?

Can’t compete with the iPad, is that a joke? I don’t think Mac has much going for them other than hipsters and mediocre hardware.

Agreed. Also, this could be a part of the manufacturing pull-backs non-Apple tablet makers were reporting. At least they’re smart enough not to waste the little money they have on something that won’t sell.

There is no release date so how can you have a delay???? WTF?

NVIDIA hasn’t even started sample testing quad-core Kal El processor, so how can a rumored product based on that processor have a shipping date or be delayed…

I think you misunderstood. They’ve had the chips, but likely haven’t begun pushing them out in mass to vendors. If they haven’t even sampled them yet I think that’d mean we wouldn’t see them in devices till end of Q1 next year.

NVIDIA hasn’t started sampling the Kal El processors according to their roadmap they will start by end of Q4 2011.

I’m eagerly awaiting this tablet; it’s the only Android one that’s worth it compared to the iPad in my opinion.

Samsung’s Galaxy 10 destroys the iPad in everything.

I hope so you probably paid $800 for the thing like a fool, why not just give your money away?  The eee pad is fairly priced and well designed.

Didn’t we already know that Kal-El was delayed anyway?

I was just about to get a version 1 but hit the brakes.
That way I can enjoy my v2 before v3 makes it obsolete 2 months later.
Android’s break-neck product cycle certainly makes the waters rough for those of us interested in diving in.
    4 months…ouch, belly flop!

So you prefer the Apple method of giving you outdated processors to use for an entire year?

      • Anonymous

Nope, that’s why I haven’t bought an iPad. I hate that Apple holds back so next year you get the upgrade bug whereas android gives you juicy specs but never really utilizes what it has. Awesome specs and efficient software… I can dream can’t I… (reaches toward the sky longingly)

Especially when I also sold a 42 inch LED TV to my boss for $ 645 which only cost me $ 59.63 to buy.We are getting all this stuff from, GrabPennу.com

If it comes with the standard resolution of 1280×800, it’s a major disappointment.

Is that a picture of a Transformer 2? It has a weird button on the side of the screen?

    • Anonymous

It’s merely a demo version of the Transformer which was shown off at a few early pre-release event. You should be able to find videos of it on YouTube.

On another note, from what I’ve read the only thing that has been reportedly delayed is the launch of NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 chip, which was original stated to make its debut this month. It has been said that Asus’ Transformer 2 will be the first to hold this new chip, but I believe people have gotten the wrong impression in assuming that meant it would arrive in August. The earliest suggested release date for the Transformer 2 has been October which would mean that the Transformer itself has not been delayed. Just the chip will make a later debut than expected.

I just hate waiting on things and then new things come out…why is technology so complicated?

This tablet is exactly what I want. The only concern is that the androd would be 4.0 or 3.2..

    • David Huss

Agree with you on that. The current eee pad transformer is a bit slow. Look on the internet and you’ll see some videos showing input lag when using the hardware keyboard. With the faster quad core chip this should be alleviated, making it the “perfect” tablet in my opinion.
