mobile

Images and preliminary specifications for the upcoming Motorola DROID HD have reportedly been revealed. Engadget received photos and details from an anonymous source, and the DROID HD certainly looks and sounds like a future blockbuster. Spec highlights include the Gingerbread OS, a massive 4.5-inch display likely equipped with either qHD or even 1280 x 720-pixel resolution, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording capability, a front-facing camera for video chat and an HDMI-out port. The phone also appears to be extremely thin — Engadget estimates its depth to be between 8.5mm and 9mm. Hit the break for a few more images of this imminent flagship phone lined up next to Verizon Wireless’ upcoming DROID BIONIC.

Why is that funny? . . . And I doubt VZW will be coming out with a phone anytime in Q4( which should be the closest time frame for this phone) . . . with new Dimensions like a 4.5inch screen and not put LTE in it…. This will be their next Blockbuster.

yes. If you look at the picture you can see a verizon LTE sim

The pic with the LTE sim is the Droid Bionic.

  • Just look at the photos

You know…if you look at the photos, the screens’ active areas are exactly the same size. I love it when rumors persist in the face of physical evidence to the contrary.

Am I wrong or does this look like the sprint Photon?(sprints somewhat updated Atrix) Specs even sound the same.

I pretty much say this is the Photon for Verizon

Maybe Android doesn’t need a successful tablet competitor, because at this rate, eventually all Android phones will be tablet size anyway. Sheesh.

That or until Apple ups the size of iPhone screens, then they will be phones again right?

Newsflash anything before the iPhone wasn’t even a phone technically..

      Have tiny hands?
I know a bevy of women with galaxy s phones, and they love them.
      If they can use a 4 incher, couldn’t you use a 4.3-4.5?

As a WP7 user, I’m getting new phone envy from the bevy of new Androids phone I see coming up. :(

Mango phones will be coming out in the next 6-10 weeks. Hold tight.

    • BurleyShells

they’re all the same, so I guess if you envy one you envy them all =

They don’t all look alike to me. The Photon, Nexus S, and this phone all differ. But I’ll just wait out for a new WP7 from HTC or Samsung.

Are you the newest android post troll?
I get the feeling you are just saying these things to get a rise out of people.
This is the internet, more specifically a tech blog. There is no place for trolling.
        Not cool, man, not cool.

You sir win the dumb comment of the day award…

A review is where a blogger/ journalist covers a  phones feature set in detail and compares and contrasts said feature set with other phones in the same price range.. Maybe you should read some (I almost confused an Evo 3D for a Photon until I did)

I know they said either HTC or Samsung for the next Nexus phone, but what about something along the lines of this? With the recent Google/Moto movement, the reported super-sized screen, and no physical buttons, this doesn’t look too terrible off.

      Its got buttons

      • http://SmokieBrooks.com Levi Brooks

I just meant a phone “like” this for the Nexus III. Meaning a Moto phone rather than HTC or Samsung.

So the screen is larger, but the form factor all around is smaller than the bionic? how the…

  • FullyOptimized

yes it is LTE. nope, the display is 4.3 inch. yes, the diaplay is 720p. i know someone personally who is testing this phone out. ;-) :-)

Is it just me, or is that every time I see a picture of a new Android phone, I get the cookie cutter effect?.  Dammit if all of these devices that have flooded the market aren’t virtually the same little black case.

    This is so monotonous.

What would you suggest? There are only so many ways to make a 16×10 rectangle efficiently.

Oh yay, another droid!! “Welcome to droid HD” so fuckin stupid, and hey just incase you forget what resolution the camera captures at, its permanently marked right next to the lens! Do people honestly like this Droid bs!?
