IPhone 5 pre-orders said to begin September 30th ahead of October 7th launch

Apple will begin taking pre-orders for its new iPhone 5 smartphone on September 30th, with a launch set to occur one week later on October 7th. Apple watcher 9to5 Mac claims to have confirmed the dates with multiple sources, though it does say Apple is currently deciding between two launch dates, October 7th and October 14th. The report also says Apple is mulling September 29th as the date pre-order availability will begin, though one source says the 30th is more likely. TiBp reported last week that Apple will launch its next-generation iPhone handset on October 7th, so this is the second time we’ve seen the date mentioned. TiBp also stated in the same report that Apple’s iPad 3 will not launch until next spring, as opposed to this fall or winter as had been previously reported.

        what are you doing on your phone that really requires LTE speeds at this time?… i mean streaming video? skyping?? 3G speeds are enough for that…

      This phone will not have LTE on AT&T or any other carrier. Verizon is the only one that can provide the speeds that their LTE is capable of. On top of that…. YOU DON’T KNOW ANY SPECS ABOUT THE PHONE YOU SHEEP!

      If Apple’s next Keynote is on September 7th (discussing the iPhone 5 & iOS 5)………….and the Launch is on October 7th………but you can pre-order the phone sept. 30  That gives you close to a month of knowing exactly what features the hardware will have, and what new features iOS 5 will have.

      It is not that hard to understand, but maybe it is for some of you.  *walks away from computer*

    I wonder if this I-Phone will be able to make calls or it will need a $30.00 case to “unlock” the calling feature. Plus if it runs on a shitty network who cares if it has LTE. AT&T may be rolling out LTE but it’s probably not backhauled.

      That may well be why ATT is allegedly putting LTE signal boosters into Apple stores, to lull potential customers into a false sense of security that they will actually receive a usable signal.  Caveat emptor!
