Apple working on pico-projector tech for iPhone, Mac

mobile

Apple may be working on pico-projector technology that could be used with its iPhone and Mac products according to a patent filing discovered by UnwiredView. The patent, titled “Projected display shared workspaces,” shows how one might be able to use an iPhone or Mac to project content onto a larger open space, such as a wall, by attaching a small pico-projector. In addition, users could control the projection using multitouch gestures on their iPhone screen or Mac trackpad. The patent reminds us of AT&Ts LG eXpo, which had its own projector accessory but wasn’t much of a hit with consumers. Read on for a second image from Apple’s patent.

Lemme guess. Hardware and manufacturing cost $79. Apple retail $399.

I’ll be thinking about that when wondering why any tablet has a hard time competing with the iPad on price or quality.

I’m going to have to help you expand your vocabulary. Tomorrow we’ll dog, cat and phrases like ‘crazed Android fan’.

        You’re incomprehensible.

Yeah, and it still looks like crap. Or would you prefer dung, or turd, how about manure?  Perhaps excrement?   Or waste?  Maybe even muck?  How about shit?

Oh, and that period was supposed to go inside the second quotation mark since we’re being meticulous.

Who comes up with these great ideas? I mean this is like an acid trip in a chip factory, better than relations with your significant other. Seriously I’m crying right now and want to puke from the genius of this idea.

I just paid $22.85 for an iPad 2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $674 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, CentHub.com

    Ummmm….

This has been done already, by like 3 different manufacturers!

And with CrApple being all freaked out over battery usage, I don’t see them putting this in the iPhone until like 2060 or something, when you can put 7 days worth of battery in the same space as the current one.

I mean seriously, SJ put the kibosh on Flash because it is a battery eater (supposedly….my DX doesn’t seem to have any issues with it, but hey, maybe that is a fluke), I have a hard time believing they would sign up for a guaranteed battery muncher.

The second graphic I am assuming is an iPad, or is it the size of the upcoming iPhone 5?  Please, oh please be the later! :-)

So how many companies are going to have to pay CrApple for this patent….even though CrApple just applied for it, and it has already been available for years?  Oh, wait…theirs is different because of the “multi-touch gestures” part…..no one ever thought of that?

    Turds!

If you read it, this patent seems to be more about sharing projected workspaces, not just putting a projector in a device. I got that from the title.

Also, saying “crapple” and all that just sounds juvenile and makes it hard to take you seriously.

I’m glad Apple is doing it, because now it means that everyone else is all of a sudden going to realize that the market might want it and start implementing it occasionally. That would make me happy.

  • GotMobile?

Elevator rides will never be the same again. People showing off their projectors .

Does that mean that Chinese manufacturers would sue apple for doing what they’ve been doing?

    • http://pileofnearmisses.tumblr.com pileofnearmisses

Which of the Chinese manufacturers has implemented shared projected desktops? I’d be really interested in that. Got a link?
