Apple blocks sale of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in EU

Tablets

German news outlet Financial Informer reported on Tuesday that Apple has won a preliminary injunction to stop the sale of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in the whole of the European Union except for the Netherlands. The Regional Court of Düsseldorf appears to have sided with Apple’s claims that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringes on intellectual property related to the design of Apple’s iPad. Apple has a similar ongoing lawsuit in the Netherlands. Should Samsung continue to sell the tablet, the company could face fines of up to $350,000 for each violation. Foss Patents said the ruling in Germany will go into effect immediately, although Samsung could appeal the decision during another hearing. On August 1st, Apple blocked Samsung from selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia until courts there rule on whether or not the tablet infringes on 10 of Apple’s patents. Samsung agreed not to advertise or sell the device and Apple will pay damages if the South Korean company wins the Australian case.

Look at all you cry babies. Like this really effects you. If Apple didn’t have any legitimate foundation for these patent infringements, then how could get they get the Tab 10.1 blocked in Australia and EU? They couldn’t! Now how about you go read some real news and worry about what’s happening in the word… you know, on a topic that maybe actually matters.

Apple is so afraid that someone is going to build something better the the junk they sale now.
when you pay your slaves at Foxxcon $300 a month you can waste your money on bull sh it.
    Besides Android is better anyway.

    • Bringit

Yeah!  Screw the law!  Let people steal all they want!

      • Tony

accept the same fanboys who say that now, bitch when someone sues Apple.

      • Bringit

It’s “except”, not accept.  Tony the Android Boy can’t spell.

      • Homer

        What exactly was stolen?

      • Bringit

intellectual property related to the design of the iPad.
anything else I can read for you?

      • Homer

Oh yeah, I forgot, Apple invented the shape known as a rectangle, and invented the idea of categorizing things in columns and rows… My bad.

      • Gaz77

Bringit….you are stealing my look and feel right now.

Please stop it or else pay up.

      • Bringit

No one in their right mind would be interested in stealing your look or feel.  You could not even give that away.  Or patent it.

  • Bringit

Sort of unnecessary when no one wants tablets anyway – they only want iPads.  But that’s not the point.

If you can already beat them rub it in a lil more with a sweeet lawsuit!

Let’s look at it for a moment. Apple comes out with an innovative product that consumers really love. Other companies simply mimic the software and hardware to produce a competing product. This isn’t competing, it’s more like lurking and waiting to copy Apple’s next product. If Apple can stop this copying behavior, it will force competitors to really innovate and not only create derivatives, but products that really stand out. Overall, this will benefit consumers because of the greater choice of truly innovative products. Instead of one company, Apple, leading in innovation. All companies will play a bigger part.

Whats going on now is crazy and these companies should stop following Apple’s every move and start doing their own thing. it’s shameful and ridiculous.

Apple is amongst the “copiers” themselves… When they released the initial iPhone it was basically just their version of what RIM, Microsoft and Palm were already doing. Apple just added some tweaks, put it all in a sleek shiny case, claimed it to be “magical” and released it as their own version of the smart phone. And as of late they copied Android’s notification bar, and also decided they are going to essentially come out with BBM for iPhones. Apple is just as guilty of repacking things as the next. They all do it, Apple is no exception.

I would not really call what apple makes innovative as the ideas for what they are selling have been around for decades. I’m sure if the world worked the way you imagined then we would all drive Ford’s since every other product on four wheels is just a copy.

    • Jbrown362

darktone tell me the difference between a ipad and a ipod. Whats the major differences. Whats innovative about it.  Apple innovations are Mac design, Iphone, Ipods and IOS. Ipad isn’t called innovative will never  be.

    • Jbrown362

      meant a ipod touch

  • Homer

Apple is just as guilty of not being innovative and “stealing” ideas as anyone else (they stole the notification bar from Android, iMessenger is a BBM rip off, etc)… If these companies want to bitch and squabble like 4 year old children then perhaps the courts should rule that they both have to go to “time out” and not be allowed to sell their products until they can get along and behave themselves.

These patent wars are amongst the most obnoxious things in tech news lately.

Ugh…. It’s not like Apple isn’t already ruling the tablet market…. Now they have to scuttle everyone else….

Atilla the Hun said “It’s not enough that I succeed, everyone else MUST fail.”

    • Anonymous

Atilla the Hun, if memory serves, was pretty successful.

      Business is war, isn’t it?

      • http://profiles.google.com/jshurak Jeff Shurak

No, win win situations are better for business.  Trolling patents to the point of trying to halt competition is modern business at its most barbaric.  It stifles innovation.  What would gadgetry be like if there wasn’t competition?  If there were no competing products there would be no reason to improve something.

Apple should sue Gene Roddenberry. I swear I saw an ipad 4 in Star Trek TNG in the hands Geordi La Forge, Ohh wait he’s dead. There must be someone they can sue over that obvious misuse of Apple IP.

  • Rapist on the loose

    Meh!

I just paid $24,97 for an iPad2 and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $37,74 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $675 which only cost me $71,32 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, MetaCent.com

  • Jbrown

Remember apple still has to buy components to create its products. Apple will start paying high price for shit. Then customers will have to pay high price for its premium products. So all I can say is go apple with patent. Let’s see how long this war will go on with all the shit its starting.

    • Anonymous

Yeah, because Apple didn’t have contracts drawn up.

  • Jbrown

Those people who approve patent are just dumb and educated. For eg how the heck can you give patent for gestures with your fingers. People talk about innovation apple did with software. How about all the cydia jailbreak features that apple stole from there.
    1. Copy and paste
    2.Wireless syncing over wifi.
    3.Background Pics
4.Oh Android on screen background running notification in IOS 5.
    5.Multi gestures.

So all of these up there they clearly copied it and said oh we came out with it. Really and trully they didn’t come out with anything. So someone does it to them and you all are freaking out. When they did that everyone of apple fan boy was up in the air screaming out wow. Nothing against the company. I just find it stupid that a company takes a ipod and enlarge it to 9.7 inches and people say its new and get a orgy over it.

So is this because Apple was the first to the market with a tablet that was all touch? What’s crazy is I remember hearing rumors of tablets being made well before the iPad even came out. Its almost like Apple rushed the iPad to be the first to get all the sales and then later released a tablet that would actually be somewhat competitive (iPad2)

This is BS its like a shoe company start suing the others because they are also making shoes . This only shows how scared and desperate apple is, in my opinion I would pick the gtab any day a unlocked 16×9 tab instead a sealed up 4×3 tab
