Amazon tablet shipments could reach 3 million units in Q3

Tablets

Amazon’s manufacturing partner is expected to ship as many as 3 million tablets for the online retail giant this quarter, Taiwan Economic News reports. BGR exclusively reported this past May that Amazon is currently prepping two tablets for launch, a low-end dual-core “Coyote” and a high-end quad-core “Hollywood.” The former is expected to hit the market first and Amazon is preparing to make quite a splash, as it reportedly has ordered between 800,000 and 1 million units each month this quarter from manufacturing partner Quanta Computer. The new order estimates are up from the 700,000 – 800,000 units reported in May by DigiTimes. Foxconn is said to have landed the contract to manufacture Amazon’s high-end 10.1-inch “Hollywood” tablet, which is expected to start shipping next year.

And I could win the lottery. It is sales not units shipped that matters. Just ask RIM and MOTO.

    • Anonymous

Indeed. It also has to work.

    • Anonymous

To RIM’s credit, when they were actually growing they gave sell through numbers as well as channel numbers. It has only been in the last two quarterly reports that they only refer to the “shipped” statement.

Vapour! They can ship these things all day if they want. I’ll pay attention when they report sell-out numbers! All the numbers they’re showing right now are just to rally up some buzz for the product. Otherwise, no one would even know it’s coming out. They’re just going to add to Androids fragmentation problem.

      what problem?

      • http://www.google.com Norm10010100

the problem where only the phones that came out within a month of the current date have or will see the current version of the OS.  The one where only a couple of the newest devices will run things like Skype or Netflix.  The problem where Apps force close repeatedly on all phones, but even more so on ones 6 months or older.  The problem where a DROID device won’t stay useable for the length of a 2 year contract that 99.9% of individuals sign. The problem where the quality apps are still on iOS.  The problem where updates are rare and some times even make the lag worse.  I know I’m missing a lot, but you get the picture…

I just paid $21.87 for an iPaad 2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $657 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, http://to.ly/aSiD

I love how when these stories are published about Apple, people cry “analyst BS”, but when it’s someone else, not one person mentions it.

I’ll go ahead and say it. This is analyst BS. Guessing in its finest form.

    • http://www.google.com Norm10010100

Well no, it’s only analyst BS when it’s about Apple. If it’s about DROID or DROID OS then it’s totally legit.

      • http://www.facebook.com/applelover Tim Meesseman

I don’t think you made as much sense as you think you did.

And I love how people who bitch and moan about people hating on Apple bring up Apple in articles that have absolutely NOTHING to do with Apple

      • Anonymous

        I hate names like SBP1

        And I should care why?

      • Anonymous

        Cause ur a douchbag

      • Anonymous

A faceless troll on the internet thinks I’m a doucebag…

I’ve got better things to worry about than what you think of me, so unless you’re somebody I’ll just ignore you like all the other trolls

      • Anonymous

Every article has to do with Apple. Just about any sector of tech is pushed forward by Apple one way or another. When someone drops Apple into the discussion it is completely justified (most of the time).

      • Anonymous

So much wrong with this, but judging by your previous comments, I wouldn’t expect anything less

      • http://www.facebook.com/applelover Tim Meesseman

My comment isn’t about Apple… it’s about selective bitching all around. It just so happens that Apple is the primary target of this.

And perhaps you should research a little bit before opening your fat mouth… I complain about analyst BS with Apple articles all the time. I was simply pointing out how ridiculous it is that nobody mentions it with other company predictions.

      • Anonymous

So, to complain about selective bitching, you bitch yourself? Yeah, that always works

And I did enough research to know that you get buthurt anytime someone mentions Apple in a negative way. And why does that bother you so much? Did Steve Jobs rescue you from an orphanage or something? What did Apple do for you that makes you think that you need to stand up for them? I never understood why all you fanboys feel they need to defend your favorite company as if your life depends on it. Jobs, Ballmer, Page, et al. don’t care about you. To them your just a sales number.

If their products are good, they’ll speak for themselves. They don’t need help from trolls and fanboys

You had the third (3) post, right?  I mean, it’s not like you had 100 posts to read to gauge sentiment and content.  But you’re right, the analysts are likely to be just as wrong about Amazon selling tablets as they are about Apple selling tablets.

      • Anonymous

Well yeah they got the iPad numbers wrong, and in early 2010 they declared the iPad a failure before the numbers where revealed by Apple.

      • Anonymous

Actually, you’re dead wrong. Their consensus estimate numbers for iPad were consistently too high prior to the most recent quarter… where they were also wrong (too low). So yeah, they’re pretty much always wrong.

      • http://www.facebook.com/applelover Tim Meesseman

Yes, I can make that judgement because with every Apple article, it’s easily the first, second, AND third comments.

And guess what… now that the conversation has died, there still aren’t any complaints.

      • Anonymous

I said the analysts are wrong about iPad numbers, and you say I’m dead wrong. Can you please provide links to back up your claim about me being wrong?

      • Anonymous

You’re wrong about the analysts suggesting the iPad would not sell well. They were consistently optimistic. This comments section does not allow links but search “iPad estimates” on this website.

How about stopping the childish bickering about Apple and Google products?  That would be a good start . IMHO. THanks
