Chrome's growth slows in July according to new browser share data

Software

Research firm Net Applications released its most recent browser share trend report on Monday. The latest information suggests that adoption of the Chrome web browser slowed slightly, possibly due to an increase in Safari’s popularity. Chrome had a 13.45% market share during the month of July, up .34 percentage points from the 13.11% share it had in June. Between May and June, however, Chrome’s market share increased .59 percentage points. Apple’s Safari web browser had a 8.05% share of the web browser market during July, up .57 percentage points from June. Despite declines in market share, Internet Explorer and Firefox remain the two most popular browser options with a 52.81% and 21.48% share of the market, respectively. Opera has a 1.65% grip on the market and other browser options are responsible for 2.56% collectively.

Maybe because everyone is already using it?

Maybe it slipped because Lion came out and Safari takes advantage of new gestures. Chrome doesn’t.
I have Chrome on my mac but have switched back to Safari simply because Chrome doesn’t support gestures. (yet)
How is Market share calculated? by the number of downloads of that particular browser each month or by which browser was used to access web sites? if its the later, Safari is getting used more by Lion.

What gestures?  Oh I know.  Mute.

You mean “if it’s the *latter* ” ;)

No wonder people have been switching from Chrome.

It’s getting too damn slow to launch and all bloated. The #1 reason I liked chrome was that it was so damn simple and secure, and launched so fast. Not anymore :/

I really like Chrome, and I’ve used it since it came out. Lately though, I’ve had to switch back to Firefox. Chrome is unstable, especially with Flash and slow-loading websites.

I thought I was alone, guess not. I too kind of like chrome but had to abandoned it do to instability.

So what. When we Americans finally realize our beloved Japanese idols, Korean actors, and Chinese actresses are using Android phones, we know we are already lagging behind, at least for 5 years now and continues to lag even more with so called idiot phones.

I’m one of those loozers with a low IQ who still use IE…albeit IE9…but still IE.  Chrome is too shinee.  And I’m skared of Foxes, especially Foxes on Fire.  I don’t like Opera music and I would love to go on a Safari, but can’t afford it since my low IQ won’t allow me to get a bestest job in world.  FML.

I use ubuntu and windows 7. Chrome has recently become a bit slow on windows 7 yet on ubuntu it is really really fast. I hope Google redouble their efforts on the windows version..

I’ve gone back to IE, 9 that is, on my win 7 box. Getting sick of firefox which has been my main browser since build 2 something…still use firefox on my work laptop, win xp.

Am liking IE again, didn’t think I would be saying that!

    Okay
    1. You used the old logo
    2. The latest chrome works on Windows XP so it should be getting some more market share as soon as people realize that they can’t update to ie9.

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2 (64GB) and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $674 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, CentHub.com

This comes right off heels of a new update for chrome today.

    Nah, it couldn’t be the:

    9 million iPads,
    the 7 million iPod Touches,
    the 20 million iPhones and,
the mere 4 million Macs sold.
Right, that slowed Chrome’s growth down?
