Motorola MB865 could be Atrix 2, AT&T's first 4G LTE phone

mobile

Last week we saw the first images of a new Motorola handset largely believed to be the successor to the ATRIX 4G. Now rumors have surfaced that the phone’s model number is actually “MB865″ and that it packs a 4G LTE radio, which lends credence to the possibility of it launching as AT&T’s first 4G LTE smartphone. According to PhoneArena, which purportedly obtained a leaked internal system screenshot from AT&T, the MB865 will be field tested in a number of markets where AT&T has already confirmed it will deploy its new 4G network. The phone also said to sport an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p video and is equipped with an HD display and a dual-core processor. AT&T has confirmed that it will launch 4G LTE service in several markets this summer including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. The carrier expects its faster network to be available in a total of 15 markets by the end of this year and has already announced two devices. AT&T may hold off on launching the MB865, or what is now being called the ATRIX 2, until its LTE network is available in more areas, so it is unclear when we will see the phone become official.

This phone will be just as big a flop as every other crapdroid. 40+% return rate for crapdroids. Android will be dead in two years  true story™©®

      right right…

      Anyway.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how ATT LTE network performs… VZW is blazing the trail right now…

Every time I read your comments, I think to myself

“That’s so clearly wrong that he has to know it. He must just be alleviating his real-world problems such as a lack of friends and perceived intelligence. He’s also probably a huge douchebag.”

But then I read to the end of the comment and see ‘true story’ and realize I was wrong and what you are saying is in fact true. Even if its a story.

Most realize, just like you have admitted, that they were wrong and what I’m saying is in fact true.  true story™©®

I don’t think you’ve ever used an Android phone.  Please, tell me you’ve owned one before to make such stupid comments.

LTE speed and HSPA+ fall back – Sign me up!

More like “get me out!”. They killed unlimited plans and are now going to throttle us that are still grandfathered in. AT&T sucks! Not so much their coverage in my area, but how they do business. While VZW isn’t any better, I’m still trying to see if I can get on board with unlimited data. At least if they throttle us, it won’t be because they can’t handle how much data we’re using. Pathetic AT&T!

I would think this phone’s awesome but for the fact that it’s made by Motorola and only on AT&T network!

The phone looks nice.  And that’s a big deal since Motorola seems prone to making their phones resemble bulldozers.

Yeah but now ATT is ganna look stupid marketing a “4g network” faster then It’s current “4g network”. It’s like McDonald’s marketing “now with 100% beef” I was like WTF was in here before?!

    • Anonymous

They’ll probably just keep marketing the same way…. not like the public in general knows any better….

    • Anonymous

Why give a damn about a stupid label like “4G” in the first place? lol

    • Anonymous

They will market their HSPA+ network as their 4G network… and they will market their LTE network as their LTE network.

Giving it something like “ATT: The only carrier to give you both 4G and LTE”

      • Dave4321

No LTE will be 5G :P

I still don’t think this will be the Atrix 2, for a couple reasons:

    1. Historically, sequels to phones take at least 1 year to come out.
    2. There’s no fingerprint reader.

I hope its not as slow as its current Atrix.  lol.  Seriously, I’ll stick to HTC and Samsung.

    • meh

slow at the current Atrix? You obviously don’t own one.

    • ATRIXFTW!

HA! My Atrix 4G on Gingerbread is extremely fast. You should try to be up to date on software before trying to put a phone down because its “Slow”

While I’m interested, I don’t think getting an LTE phone with AT&T early would be worth it. Only 5 cities this summer, with adding only 10 more by the end of the year. The chance of you getting LTE coverage within the first year of your contract is pretty slim by the pace they’re moving. Makes me sad as an AT&T customer. Plus, with them throttling our grandfathered “unlimited” plans makes me want to switch. But VZW data plans are far too expensive. And Sprint only has CDMA in Arizona. Guess I’m stuck where I’m at.

… oh, it looks like the leaked iPhone5 or the iPhone5 looks like the atrix2 … and now, apple?
