Apple TV gets software update, preliminary iCloud support

Software

Apple issued an update to its Apple TV product on Monday that will allow users to stream purchased high-definition TV shows directly from iTunes. Specifically, Apple says the update will enable:

  • iTunes TV Shows: Purchase your favorite TV shows directly from the iTunes Store, and watch the shows you already own, commercial-free in HD.
  • Vimeo: Browse and play videos from Vimeo, access your video inbox, and mark videos you want to watch later.

When Apple first launched the Apple TV, it only allowed users to rent movies and shows and there was not an option to purchase titles for permanent ownership. For users in the U.S., Apple has also rolled out preliminary iCloud support with this update, allowing users to re-download some purchased television shows, though movie support is not yet available.

Is Apple TV popular? I only see people talking about it on the internet. I guarantee none of my friends have even heard of it.

I was going to write exactly what you said, but thought people would bash and say I don’t know what I’m talking about. But I think you’re right.

Nobody I know has this thing. Not even the crazy, Apple-obsessed fanboys.

      You must have stupid friends.

Not knowing about a product that’s barely marketed makes you stupid?

    • Bringit

      More popular than Google TV.

Why does everything have to be Apple vs. Google? Please take your iPhone out of your butthole. I’m speaking specifically about Apple TV, and only Apple TV. Google’s failed venture has nothing to do with whether Apple is doing a good job.

      • Bringit

Just stating a fact @tn7871:disqus , just the facts.  No need to get all sensitive and then fantasize about my butthole.  Kind of strange.

      • Anonymous

@bringit But they’re irrelevant. That’s the point. Every time you see “Apple” you have to counter it with something “Google”. Get a life. And as far as “fantasizing” about your butthole, your whole comment history is full of “fag” and “cum guzzling”. It’s almost like you’re obsessed with gay sex. Are you 12?

      • Bringit

@tn7871:disqus  – it is completely relevant.  You asked if Apple TV is popular.  How can you say if something is popular or not if you do not have a comparison?  Apple and Google happen to be major players today in the tech market (look it up if you don’t believe me).

If you don’t like the answers, don’t ask dumb questions.  Then your panties won’t get all bunched up.

@c009b00976ca25649d53f2a08121b9f1:disqus I think your comment history proves how much of an idiot you are. Your comparison is NOT relevant. That’s like saying Windows Phone 7 is doing good just because WebOS is doing worse. It has nothing to do with the conversation. The fact is that Apple TV is a FAILURE. Get over it. Companies make bad decisions all the time. And good job of not addressing anything I said about your homophobe comments. I guess you really are a pile of garbage.

      • Bringit

Apple TV is a failure?  Please do yourself and your family a favor and step away from the keyboard.  The more you type, the dumber you make yourself look.

As far as your homophobe comments – you fantasize about an iPhone in my butthole (see above, I know you have a short memory).  I think it’s clear who has the gay problem here.

@c009b00976ca25649d53f2a08121b9f1:disqus If nobody even knows what it is, then it’s probably a failure. As far as the iPhone in your ass comment, having something is your ass doesn’t have anything to do with being gay. It was more a reference to your Apple-lovingness. Please stop making yourself look like an ignorant fool.

      • Bringit

Again – you look silly.  Many many people know about Apple TV – just not in your backwater circle of friends.  Step out of the trailer once in a while.

“having something is your ass doesn’t have anything to do with being gay.”  Really?  Clearly in your world that is the case.

    • Hyphy3man

They had to sold over two million of them in the the last year. I know they sold over a million in 90 days and 400k last quarter. I would say their more popular than Google TV, Ruku Player, Western Digita ect…l

      • Bringit

Oh no you didn’t!  @tn7871:disqus  will now get very mad that you dared to compare one products sales to another to demonstrate it’s popularity!

tn7871 will also now want to shove things up your butthole (but he’ll say not in the gay way, whatever that means) .  Careful dude – you crossed the line here!

  • TooMuchNoise

When will they add 1080p. Worthless without it.

  • Tonyj

I buy movies all the time on my 1st gen Apple TV.

  • Jonas Bone

Shoulb be noted 1080i is actually the broadcast standard. Couldn’t a file based transfer even in a stream be 1080p with better networks ie fios

    • Inkmatcher1956

      What a douche…..dj wannabe

      • Jonas Bone

U really added to the discussion
