Google unveils new search UI for tablets

Tablets

Google announced on Friday that it has improved the search experience for users accessing http://www.google.com from a tablet. Search results are now simplified and text, buttons and other areas are now larger and easier to tap. In addition, Google has created larger image previews, faster loading thumbnails and has a new continuous scroll feature. The new search page will begin to roll out in the “coming days” and can be viewed on devices running Android 3.1+ (Honeycomb) and on the iPad in 36 different languages.

From the two screens shown above, it looks like they left the top navigation bar the same, and thats where I normally have a problem. The top bar is too small to switch tabs.

Is apple’s joining a consortium called ‘rockstar bidco’ which includes Microsoft to buy more patents to hamper Google from actual innovation also considered not being evil?  It says alot about a company’s ethics to be investigated by the Justice dept.

Google has been investigated by the justice dept. Several times in thw last year alone.

Lemme guess. Apple lawsuit incoming ..

android was designed for overly fat fingers, buttons cover half the screen. iOS and WP7 were designed nicely.

when was the last time apple did anything new?  Google revamped Android specifically for tablets.  io/s is the same bland experience, which is why io/s is like checkers while Android is like chess.

Wow that was the dumbest comment today congrats.

yeah, i mean if you look at the way apps are displayed….but if you actually wanna do something useful (use quality apps) you are gonna want an iPad.  I don’t get you fanDROID clowns that are obsessed with the looks of your wallpapers and how your icons look, when in reality functionality and usefulness is priority number one for non-losers.

Doesn’t support Gingerbread tablets. Pfft Google!

I think they should have left it the way it was. It’s looks and feels like a cheap version of bing now, honestly.

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $675 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, CentHub.com

Wow, you got ripped off. I got my iPad for only $13.29! You really suck!

  • drew dogg

I think bigger news is the new market Google made for gingerbread phones. The new layout is awesome.
