iTunes 11 to feature redesigned layout, iCloud integration according to report

Software

Following our exclusive report from Thursday suggesting Apple plans to release iTunes 11 in September alongside the iOS 5 and iCloud, a new report claims iTunes 11 will feature a redesigned layout and deep iCloud integration. IDownloadBlog on Friday cites a reliable source in stating that the next major release of iTunes will be “revamped from the ground up.” The report claims Apple’s new version of iTunes will feature a brand new user interface as well as iCloud integration. Mobile device app data and backups will also reportedly be integrated with iTunes 11, effectively mirroring iOS device backups and app data/settings that are automatically synced to iCloud. Apple has made major investments in its iCloud service, including the billion-dollar data center it built in North Carolina, so it would certainly be a logical move to showcase the service right out of the gate when it launches this fall.

Only thing I’m excited about is iTunes Match – turning all my “ripped” music legal!

Anybody can ‘make up’ rumours. Looks like trick pulled from BGR’s bag! Isn’t this obvious news?

But of course what we all want to know is, will the icon change dramatically? :P

Is it just me, or in the past couple of weeks/days the most used phrases in BGR articles are:

    “A trusted source”
    “A reliable source”
    “Exclusive source”
    “Under good authority”
    “Tipster”

And any variation of the above.

It brings to mind that law that came into effect last year that said blogs had to disclose if they were paid for articles/reviews:

‘The Federal Trade Commission will require bloggers to clearly
disclose any freebies or payments they get from companies for reviewing
their products. It is the first time since 1980 that the commission has
revised its guidelines on endorsements and testimonials, and the first
time the rules have covered bloggers. But the commission stopped short Monday of specifying how bloggers must disclose any conflicts of interest.

The FTC said its commissioners voted 4-0 to approve
the final guidelines, which had been expected. Penalties include up to
      $11,000 in fines per violation.’

I think iCloud is a bust. It is essentially wireless syncing and that’s it. The same thing accomplished now with simply plugging my iPhone into my mac for a minute or two. If it were a true cloud service and allowed storage of music and video online eliminating the need to host it locally, THAT would be fantastic. It would allow users with the brand new 64GB MacBook Air to still have lots of music and video and still be able to listen to and view an iTunes library via Apple TV.

Maybe iCloud will turn into a true cloud service someday, until then it’s just a cool little add- on.

Thank God. The iTunes interface is OLD and it’s clunky as hell.

It’s about time. So does this mean Spotify is going to redesign their outdated UI to look like iTunes 11 now?
