White Samsung Galaxy S II spotted

mobile

We’re expecting Samsung to begin launching its flagship Galaxy S II handset in the United States any week now, and on Thursday a render of a white version of the device popped up online. Until recently, Samsung only offered a black hued model of the phone in Europe, but a number of retailers are beginning to stock the new white model pictured above. The Galaxy S II packs a dual-core processor, Samsung’s stunning Super AMOLED Plus screen, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the latest TouchWiz user interface and more. So far it has been Samsung’s fastest selling smartphone and 5 million units have already been shipped. Hopefully one of the U.S. carriers have this hue scheduled for launch because we’re definitely fawning over the milky color scheme.

*cue the “it looks like an iphone* complaints*

But it really does. If you cant see the similarity you need to open your eyes.

      • Anonymous

Didn’t say it did or didn’t, did I? EVERYTHING that is a slab of glass “looks like an iPhone/Pad/Pod”.

      • Anonymous

Htc and moto phones do not. Nokia phones do not. Seems to be a problem specific to samsung.

@proof2006:disqus This is only an international model that will not see the US as is. All of the original Samsung “S” models (ones before Galaxy S, and even their featurephones, before iPhones!) overseas always have that square-ish, if not round, button. But in the US variants, they all have the familiar set of 4 keys that we are used to seeing.

        Not seeing it….
        Can you elaborate?

      • Anonymous

You might not be seeing it because you have macroencepholy.  You should see a doctor about that.

      • Jollygoodtime

“macroencepholy?” Never heard of that. You should go see a Physician’s Desk Reference or any pathophysiology book about that.

You don’t see it? Really? I mean, it’s white! It has a screen! And an earpiece on top, which should’ve obviously been placed next to the mic, on the bottom! Oh, and it has a rectangular physical button below the screen (apparently many people don’t know the difference between a rectangle and a circle). And the capacitive buttons on both sides of the rectangular physical button! This is where I draw the line and verbally call Samsung out because it’s exactly like the iPhone.

      • sirpaul

How does it look like an iPhone? What are you going to say next – all laptops look like the MacBook Pro because they have a tilting screen and keyboard?

      • http://www.20b.org/rickroll.html LaurenÈ›iu Roman

But they do man, if Steve says they do, then they do.

      • sirpaul

@LauRoman:disqus si eu sunt Roman ;)

      • http://profiles.google.com/jshurak Jeff Shurak

They really don’t. You just need to open your eyes.  Heaven forbid your phone be rectangular and white.  Heaven forbid.  Stop feeding the flames

Iv’e had the ip4, now got sgs2. The only thing that looks the same is the shape. the ip4 is a laggy pos compared to the sgs2. Im not a fanboy on any side but i would say apple are very frightened of yhe sgs2 because put simply it’s better & apple know this, only the fanboy’s are in denial.

If this is released before the white iphone I’m gonna laugh

      • Anonymous

The white iPhone is already released my man. You’re a tad bit late, lol.

      • Anonymous

Ooops! Lol i just never see them when im out. Theyre apple so i guess they have a magical cloaking chip installed

      • Anonymous

Yea, I’ve seen a few. But most of the people that wanted an iPhone already have the black one. There are a few that bought those “stolen” white plates to swap, but I still hardly see the white ones out in the streets.

Thanks for the articulate response, +1 to you!

  • Sdfds

PLEASE let this be on Verizon with LTE…

    • Anonymous

If this comes to VZW, I’ll have one on launch day.

This is the sexiest looking device I’ve seen in a long, LONG time.

      • BurleyShells

hopefully they dont butcher it like other carriers by adding half a dozen buttons on the bottom or some garbage keyboard.

        the phone is beautiful as-is

Will this get a second detailed review like the white iPhone?

    I doubt it.

    • Anonymous

      Copycats don’t get reviews

      • Anonymous

Clue to you. Manufacturers send blog sites hardware to review, the site owes it to the manufacturer to review any item the manufacturer sends them. Apple probably sent BGR a white unit to review. It doesn’t mean that the iPhone is better than anything. Grow up children. This is business, not high school. Your Jansport backpacks or your iAnything have no weight here.

      • Anonymous

what about a north face backpack? Any cred for that?

      • http://www.20b.org/rickroll.html LaurenÈ›iu Roman

Actually i thought Apple doesn’t send early models for review, am I wrong? I thought all the blogging sites kiss Steve’s ass so much just to get a free Apple gadget that will never come. I thought only Walter Mosspuppet and friends get early access.

Whatever happened to doing a whole line up of different colors like the way razr had?

    • Anonymous

That’s for the Japanese market where they love ‘loud’ tech

  • Riley Biers

    ..and where’s the front-facing camera?

    • sirpaul

      It’s hiding!

Not sure why, but depending on the angle their promo pics seem to be missing the front camera, as if the glare takes it out.

  • J. Williams

    I want one.

Apple should sue Samsung for infringing on their patented Martha Stewart White iPaint.

    • Anonymous

Yes they should and Samsung should pee in their pants.

      • Anonymous

Watch out! Apple is going to sue you for the beginning of your handle starting with an “a” because anyone who has a name starting with “a” is taking advantage of the likeness their “a” has to Apple.

As BGR’s newly hired CdB, chief douche bag, it is my duty to inform everyone who visits this site that I constanly use the same lame ass tAmpon or maxiPad joke over and over. BTW I have a tiny penis.

      Yours Truely,

Looks worse than a cheap Chinese knockoff of the white iPhone

    • Anonymous

Did not you know that iPhone was made in Chine? At this time, iPhone looks like a cheap knockoff of the Galaxy SII.

    • Anonymous

The only reason Apple and iFags get upset is because Samsung’s “copycat” phones are better than the iPhone. Watch that the “copycat” Galaxy S 2 will have better specs than the iPhone 4S/5 that is coming out in September. Mark my words, and start iTantrum…..NOW!

You display the absence of maturity and quintessential latent homosexuality of one who would be truly concerned with another’s personal preference of mobile OS/manufacturer. Congratulations on being a living stereotype.

      • Anonymous

I never understand all inappropriate name calling that happens on geeky/nerdy not macho at all tech sites. While obviously a troll, he still is fairly sad, most likely in real life as well.

  • Anonymous

I’m more interested in a VZW SGS II with LTE (acronyms on the starboard bow!).

  • Anonymous

Wow. I love android but that phone looks like an iPhone. Seriously.

  • http://twitter.com/homescrub homescrub

But can it be rooted to run ASOP roms? I hate samsungs interface.

  • Anonymous

Is this the new iPhone 5? Bigger screen, middle button on the bottom, check, thin, check, alll white, check. Ooohhhh wait, it’s the samsung. Samsung copies everything apple…even the 10.1 tab..didn’t they have to “redesign” the tab after apple unveiling the iPad 2. I hate samsung.

  • Anonymous

And everyone comes on this site to say that the new Blackberries coming out will all look like the old ones.  At least they look like Blackberries.
“But, but, but Samsung phones have better specs than the Iphone.”  Give me a break!

  • Anonymous

Does Samsung have any creative talent? I guess drafting off Apple is the most creative thing they could come up with.

  • http://twitter.com/derrickisonline Derrick -Lex-

Yuck white.  Samsung, when your product already murders the iPhone you don’t have to copy them.  Geesh.  Your product can stand on it’s own without looking like an iPhone.

  • Passerby

Hey, didn’t Apple invent the white color?

    • sirpaul

Same thing I was thinking when reading the comments. So many dumbasses saying Samsung ‘copied’ the white. I personally have seen one white iPhone in my life, no including retail locations. To them anything square with full screen is an iPhone copy. Didn’t see this much BS when Apple copied Android notifications in iOS 5 did we?

  • Anonymous

BARF!  Isn’t this more for the shallow/naive/fashionista/iphony crowd and their ilk?

I want my phone to work well and do what I want.  I don’t need it in various colors.  Stupid waste of time.

    • Anonymous

3 acceptable cell colors: black, metallic, white. All other colors are reserved for the Japanese market and Hello Kitty aficionados.

  • brooklyn.21

It may look like the iPhone, but it definately has a better operating system!
