Gingerbread rolling out to T-Mobile G2x now

mobile

T-Mobile has officially announced that it is now pushing out Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) to its LG G2x customers. The update includes the following enhancements:

  • Improved battery life
  • Improved front-facing camera operation when using Qik record and share
  • Improved disabling Car Home
  • Helps address unexpected reboots.

T-Mobile confirmed the update is rolling out over the air (OTA) now, but you should be able to manually check for the software by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Update. We heard early reports that some G2x customers were experiencing a lot of bugs with their devices so we hope this update fixes most, if not all of them.

The roll out will take time as it will go out in waves. Therefore, if the server hasn’t got to your range yet, it will say latest update. That is typically best if you had to get a replacement phone that was running a previous version when it is already rolled out.

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $675 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, GrabPenny.com

So, maybe I’m all alone here, but I somehow doubt it… I’ve been having the problem of not being able to update my phone, I believe because it’s a refurbished model (P999-DWP vs. the P999-DW). So today, on a whim, I thought I would try LG’s updater tool again. I did not download it again, just ran it. After connecting it gave me the option to start the update… Yay! The whole process of downloading the 178MB package, decompressing it, and installing it to the phone took about 10 minutes or so.So, for anyone else out there that’s been int he same boat that I have been, go get it!
