mobile

Motorola has pushed out Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) to the Motorola ATRIX 4G. The update adds a number of new enhancements unrelated to Gingerbread, including support for 1080p HD video playback, a re-designed home screen with white backgrounds for easier reading of text, an enhanced photo gallery, the ability to dismiss notifications one at a time, a faster Webtop browsing experience, enhancements to the dock icons and more. To update, make sure your ATRIX 4G is connected to a Wi-Fi network and then go to Settings > About Phone > System updates > Download. Read on for a link to Motorola’s website, which includes the full release notes on software v4.5.91.

a DROID got an update?  This should be BREAKING news as DROIDS never get updates that are released in the same year as the release of the actual DROID.

Same, the UI “enhancements” is actually worse. lol

These androids are getting so ridiculously big that when you hold it next to your ears to talk to someone on the other end, others around your would think that you have the side of your planted firmly on a door to eavesdrop on some people on the other side of it. Insane.

You’ve obviously never held an Atrix..

It has the smallest form factor of any of the 4″ phones.

      • TooMuchNoise

That bezel still looks thick that it looks like it belonged on a digital picture frame. Makes me wonder if Aluratek did the industrial design for these.

It was the exact same size as my iPhone 3G, so it’s not a big phone.

any word as to when we Canucks on Bell who have an atrix will get the update?

    • Jordan_montanez

I updated mine via motrolas webpage

      • EddieWinslow

You updated your bell version off the website and it worked?

As an Atrix owner, I have to say that I am seeing insane battery life now.  Multiple days easily with heavy usage.  This is a fantastic update.

same here man. One of the pro’s to the update :D

  • Allen Walker

Much improved battery life, significantly sleeker display, a UI that’s much easier to adapt to, seems faster all around, sideloading, and the updates to most of the apps aren’t bad either..

Seems like Motorola did something right for a change.

  • Bringit

Apparently this gives the user even MORE options to change the home screen!  Simply astonishing.

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $675 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, MetaCent. com

i miss the three “buttons” at the bottom that are in the picture above

I wish I had the update.  I swapped from HTC to Motorola Atrix and miss Gingerbread (besides the Motorola updates to BLUR…….).  Love the hardware and accessories but not impressed with the software update support.
