T-Mobile now carries micro-SIM cards for iPhone 4 users

mobile

T-Mobile now offers micro-SIM cards for subscribers with unlocked iPhone 4 smartphones who want to use its network. The SIMs are listed at $9.99 but are currently available for free online. T-Mobile confirmed last month that its network is now home to more than 1 million iPhone handsets, though the bulk of them are older models that accept full-sized SIM cards. The carrier also said at that time, however, that it would soon offer micro-SIM cards for iPhone 4 users. While subscribers with unlocked iPhone 4 handsets will not be able to utilize T-Mobile’s 3G or 4G HSPA+ networks, GSM and 2G EDGE services will work fine. The move could also partially be preparation for Apple’s next-generation iPhone 5, which some believe will launch from T-Mobile and Sprint this fall in addition to AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

Is the amount of money tmo would have to pay Apple to get the iPhone worth it for the one year they have it till AT&T takes over?

I doubt they’ll make back their investment in time.

Look at it as sugar coasting the merger, as you will.  The idea of 3G or possibly HSPA+ on their network on a device that they had to use unlocked for years is music to their ears, especially those grandfathered into unlimited data.

Sort of defeats the purpose since, ultimately, they’re gonna’ be on AT&Tragic anyway…….(things that make you go hmmmm….?)

The networks use different spectrum so it makes sense to have the number one, most sought after phone on TM. It helps Apple continue it’s domination. Anything to piss off goo fans is great.

I used an iPhone 3g on T-Mobile. it was ridiculous trying to use data under 2g ALL the time on it. GPS navigation never worked, and you could never stream videos, music, or games. ppl are CRAZY to put up with that just for a high status smartphone.

Maybe T-mobile is getting ready for Nokia N9, which also uses a Micro Sim and is estimated to come out by September.

Maybe T-mobile is getting ready for Nokia N9 because this phone also uses Micro Sim and is estimated to come out in September 2011.
