Twitter now delivers 350 billion tweets each day

social

Twitter now delivers an astonishing 350 billion tweets each day, the company said on Friday. ”Delivering 350 billion Tweets a day is a terribly fun engineering challenge. But, it doesn’t capture how passionate our users are,” the company said from its official Twitter Engineering account. Coincidentally we’re sure, the news comes just one day after Google bragged that it had amassed 10 million Google+ users in just two weeks, and that these users collectively share 1 billion items each day. Google+ has quite a way to go before it is anywhere near as popular as Twitter, of course, but it’s certainly doing well for a 2-week-old product.

how does no one understand that it’s actually impossible to for their to be 350 billion tweets a day! if you took into account that there are 1 billion “tweeters” (which i’m almost positive there aren’t) then it would take every single tweeter 350 tweets every single day to get to that. now the few people i know that do tweet only tweet a couple of times a day at most. so to think that there has to be quite a lot of people out there doing a few thousand tweets a day to balance it out is just inconcievable…

twitter took it off their site, but an article on business insider from March 2011 pegged twitter with 175 million registrations but 90m of those had no one following, therefore they could be reading but not tweeting.  Even with 100% growth since (doubtful) those active users would need to tweet over 2000(!!!!) times a day.

I read this, and thought that I would share this with you:

It’s easy to see why RIM will be the dominant Smartphone
    player in the east.

Apple is an American company; Apple pays taxes to the American
government. The government uses that money to purchase weapons and missiles, to
use against the people of the east.

Android is software made by Google. Google is an American
company; Google pays taxes to the American government. The government uses that
money to purchase weapons and missiles, to use against the people of the east.

Nokia and Microsoft together. Microsoft is an American
company; Microsoft pays taxes to the American government. The government uses
that money to purchase weapons and missiles, to use against the people of the
    east.

RIM is a Canadian company. Canadians love everyone.

Nokia use to do very well out east. But now that they have
joined an American company, it’s an entire new ball game.

2 week old + invite only product. Yep, not bad at all.

Plus G+ posts are usually a bit more in depth than “taking a shit now”, “it’s raining” and “omg i <3333 JB so much baby xoxox".

Most postings on G+ are a lot lengthier, though out and provoke actual conversation, rather than just once-sentence replies.
