Apple releases iOS 4.3.4, fixes PDF vulnerability

Breaking

Apple has just released iOS 4.3.4 for its iOS devices including the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad and third and fourth-generation iPod touch devices. Apple also released a comparable update for Verizon Wireless’ CDMA iPhone 4, iOS 4.2.9. The new build includes a security update that addresses a vulnerability with PDF files. It also patches the extremely popular jailbreak.me jailbreak solution, so it will no longer function on devices that update. IOS 4.3.4 is available immediately via iTunes.

I thought every single Apple user said that you don’t get viruses on Apple products?  This is mind blowing

    • Ayport

most say what they have heard, not what they have experienced

    • Thisiswhyyouaredumb

Ohhhhhh snap! Yea… Take that all you people who prefer a different product.

Actually vulnerabity does not equal virus. Just a possible exploit

And those apple people are most likely referring to the Mac not iOS. Mac has never seen a major virus (malware installed by user not withstanding)

It seems like every other post is about Apple. So lets play a drinkning game with BGR.com. Go down the homepage and take a drink every time you see an Apple article. I’ll bet you cannot make it to the bottom. :)

    • ID-10-T_Error

This exploit has been know since ops 4.3 was released. The only way for the exploit to work is to view a website that has a PDF file and install the file via the website… So unless your mentally retarded it doesn’t infect the phone.

The only reason this is news is because it patches jailbreakme which is a website you visit from your iPhone and can jailbreak with

You mean that plastic SpongeBob pool from KMart you bought for your kids, which eventually you had to utilize as your family’s bath tub because your fat wife cracked the one in the bathroom after she sat on and broke the toilet: that one??

Anyone ever notice that Apple seems to get right on patching IOS whenever Jailbreakme gets traction? Other tethered / untethered JBs can be out for a month or two before they are addressed.

“Slide to Jailbreak” seems to get their attention :-)

  • Anonymous

I heard it was just a small hole in the system. They were able to plug it using @Scroat:disqus ’s tiny penis TRUE STORY.

Apple releases iOS 4.3.5, makes keyboard 1px taller.

Oh yeah and we patched the jailbreak exploit.

    Lemme get this straight;
They can attempt to take down (or atleast halt) Samsung for having a black, rectangle phone – on the basis that “it’s just like an iPhone”, when Apple’s physical property in not in jeopardy…..

But…..they can’t attempt to take down (or halt) the Jailbreak teams for modifying and exploiting their software, enabling the illegal obtainment of licensed software at no cost, or as the media likes to put it – piracy. Putting their physical property in jeopardy. Making them liable for lawsuit from the software developer on the basis that they were encouraging piracy, not preventing it.

Sony took down GeoHot for the PS3 exploit because it put their software in danger, and decreasing profits made from game sales as piracy takes over the lead of software distribution. They didn’t take down Microsoft because their Xbox 360 controller has 4 buttons controlled by your right thumb, or because the controller is “Just like a Dualshock 3″, they compete fairly, the developers work together between platforms – and everyone is happy!

Apple patented a simple smartphone (albeit dumb) design for simple
people – if you patent a rectangle phone with square icons, every
smartphone on the market is going to breach your patent. Where was HTC’s lawsuit for the Diamond? That looks more alike than any Samsung device. Man, fuck Apple. It makes my blood boil that such simple patents are valid.

It’s disappointing to see that this is not applicable to those of us who have the 3G.  I haven’t been able to afford an upgrade, though hopefully that will soon change.  It’s insulting that those of us who don’t buy every single product they offer are left out in the cold on a potential security exploit.

    • http://www.facebook.com/mattharrisonn Matt Harrison

it’s possible that since the 3G didn’t get all the iOS 4 features then it’s not a vulnerability on the 3G :)

I read this, and thought that I would share this with you:

It’s easy to see why RIM will be the dominant Smartphone
    player in the east.

Apple is an American company; Apple pays taxes to the American
government. The government uses that money to purchase weapons and missiles, to
use against the people of the east.

Android is software made by Google. Google is an American
company; Google pays taxes to the American government. The government uses that
money to purchase weapons and missiles, to use against the people of the east.

Nokia and Microsoft together. Microsoft is an American
company; Microsoft pays taxes to the American government. The government uses
that money to purchase weapons and missiles, to use against the people of the
    east.

RIM is a Canadian company. Canadians love everyone.

Nokia use to do very well out east. But now that they have
joined an American company, it’s an entire new ball game.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, RawCent.c om

I may have missed this in an earlier update, but my iTunes is now automatically downloading apps that I purchase on my iPhone? Is this the first step towards iCloud or have I simply only just noticed and it’s been available for a while?
