Foxconn to build all iPad units this year

Tablets

Foxconn will be the only manufacturer to build the iPad this year, DigiTimes reported on Wednesday. There were reports earlier this week that suggested Apple had been in talks with either Pegatron or Quanta Computer as a second manufacturer in order to create enough units for the launch of a new model in September. However, Foxconn reportedly caught word of Apple’s discussions with other manufacturing outlets and was able to convince the Cupertino-based company to stick with one manufacturer… for now. Apple is expected to launch a new iPad with a higher resolution screen in September. According to rumors swirling around analyst circles and in the media, the new tablet will be dubbed the “iPad HD,” “iPad Pro,” or the “iPad 2 Plus.”

Well, there goes their 15 min “Breathe in deadly chemicals and please don’t kill yourself for working here” break.

It’s funny, back in April I was told that HD (1080p) was over rated for the Playbook since people don’t want HD.

Can’t wait for this release, going to be even more interested to see if the specs are similar to iPad 2 minus display.  I can understand people buying up an ‘iPad 3′ with overall greater specs and features, but if not it will only fuel the ‘iSheep’ fire.

No kidding Apple will rule the world when they force their customers to buy new products every 6 months at the risk of being SO last quarter.

Apple customers are wealthy. No sweat dropping a few thousand a year.
Android customers have to budget their welfare/social assistance checks. No
judgement. Someone needs to clean my crapper.  true story™©®

I get it, Apple customers have enough money to make poor financial decisions, like paying for overpriced computer components with a picture of a white apple on them.

Your argument you’ve made really does a poor job doing anything but making apple customers appear as immature impulse buyers with no sense of being fiscally responsible.

Android phones are becoming the new Blackberry. business phones, professional. I see someone with an iPhone and I know theyre just going through a midlife crises where they wish they were as young as their teenager again. Teenagers with iPhones are just iSheep, taught that having an iPhone makes you cooler/more attractive/etc all because Apple is just associated with being expensive.

Be smart, spend less for a better phone and get an Android.

Where as what an fandroid buys one every two weeks? You people are so dumb there isn’t going to be a new iPad this year. Morons.

  • http://twitter.com/cdoruff Collin Doruff

Haha, all you suckers who got iPad 2′s this year, time to dump another few hundred dollars on a slightly upgraded version of your soon to be obsolete iPad 2.
My friend just bought one, I sent him this link, he turned blue.
    Man that just sucks.

Wow apple really does not care about people at all since they are sticking with a company that has no respect for anyone. There is no way i will buy an apple product only why smarten up.

The picture in the article was used when the employee in the picture holding up the ipad.. wanted to form a union of apple employees.

BGR is just getting lazy I guess.

Ok so story at the end of the year will be, Foxconn sees record numbers suicides in 2011.

    • Cer

If that’s the story, it certainly won’t be reported on BGR. BGR would only post about how Foxconn’s recent “downsizing” will affect availability of iPads.
