AT&T to offer HP TouchPad 4G with faster 1.5GHz processor

Tablets

AT&T on Tuesday announced that it will launch the HP TouchPad 4G with a faster 1.5GHz processor (the original launched with a 1.2GHz chip). We recently reviewed a Wi-Fi-only version of the tablet and said we “prefer it almost every other tablet [we've] tested to date,” but did note the TouchPad has a number of drawbacks and, in its current state, is just “good.” The webOS-powered TouchPad 4G will offer 32GB of storage, a 9.7-inch display with a 1024 x 768 resolution, and support for AT&T’s HSPA+ network. AT&T hasn’t provided pricing details or a release date yet, but the carrier did confirm that the tablet will launch in time for the back-to-school season. Read on for the full press release.

I want to wait for reviews with the coming update and faster processor but… Damnit. I want one.

Hopefully it’ll launch with the update cuz ya know how carriers are with pushing out updates to hardware.

I have to hope that updates to tablets are handled more directly than those for smartphones. But, you are right to hope that it launches with whatever update fixes the reported bugs rather than waiting after purchase for a solution. Almost every manufacturer and carrier fail at this so I don’t want to rely on them much after I buy a product.

Apple does good to update their devices. And updates happen very consistently. So I would not say all manufacturers.

So everyone that just bought one got screwed out of a better processor

I believe the processor in the wifi only version is underclocked. I’m sure the devs will have an OC for it anyway.

Should be called the TouchPad[s] to build up hype.

LOL it is quite comical how all the manufacturers screw up their tablet launch even after watching how the others have failed before them and having apple as an example of how to do it. Half assed software and hardware. Piss poor marketing decisions. Yes web os and android will be dead in two years.  true story™©®

The Half-OS like iOS and Android running on tablets will just be a blip in history like NetBooks and dodo birds. Who wants to run a Half-OS when you can run the Full-OS that rest of the 90% of all computers run like MSFT Windows 7 and 8.

I hope they keep the size down. In the market that tablets like iPad and android do well in; a behemoth wont work so well. IPad got extremely popular because of how thin and portable it is. Galaxy tab too. Every tablet running a windows is like a laptop without a keyboard. Bulky.
