Verizon Wireless to switch from unlimited to tiered data plans on July 7th

mobile

Verizon has confirmed to FierceWireless that it will move to tiered data plans on July 7th, and the new plans are in line with earlier reports for the most part. If you’re worried about losing your existing unlimited plan, fear not; only new customers will be required to subscribe to one of three new data plans: $30 for 2GB of data per month, $50 for 5GB, or $80 for 10GB. Verizon Wireless will then charge $10 per GB of data past the monthly allotment. Mobile hotspot users will need to start paying a monthly fee starting on July 7th, too. Current 4G hotspot owners will be charged $30 for unlimited use and new customers will have to pay $20 per 2GB of data consumed. The good news? Verizon confirmed that existing customers can upgrade on or after July 7th and still hang on to their unlimited data plans — for now, at least.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, LiveCent.com

Does anyone know how much billable data a program like Google Navigator uses?

Will the 2GB plan accommodate traveling and road trips?  Or is this going to be the price change that brings standalone GPS devices back onto the market?

no clue. but considering how this entire decision is a devolution, i could totally see GPS devices becoming popular again. y not roll back the clock to 2001??

New Verizon users should now consider using an app like DataMan Pro for iPhone, which is already popular with AT&T users, to prevent overage charges. DataMan tracks your cellular data usage every 10 minutes, giving you daily, weekly and monthly usage statistics. Plus, it warns you in real-time when you exceed your custom usage thresholds, geotags your data activities, and works with all carriers.

this is all stuff i never wanted to wry about. the whole point to a smartphone IMO is it’s easier to maintain than a laptop, desktop, etc.

That’s great, because if I lost my unlimited plan…I’d be switching to Sprint or I’d just get a crappy flip phone. And I KNOW I’m not the only one! Verizon…if you read these posts…pay attention! Keep current customers on the unlimited plans.

All of you who think that Sprint IPHONE is better are IDIOTS. Verizons networks for 3 and 4g are 2 to 10 times faster then any other carrier. PLUS. MOST users 95% of verizons users only use on average 1.1GIGS  of data every month. ONLY that 5% use more then 2 GIGs of data every month. It isnt about money it is about providing the best coverage every day. With spring and att, all those unlimited data users on a non lte network destroys reliablilty. For att verizon and spring 5% of data users use on average 50 percent of the data on thier networks. so take away those data pirates will make it better for everyone else.

Iphone is a good but if it is on a good network. SPRINT IS NOT A GOOD NETWORK. SPRINT should sell thier asses to verizon.

Go Verizon IPHONE SUCK ANDROID RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!
