Microsoft to power English search results on Baidu

Software

Microsoft has struck a deal to provide English search results in Baidu, China’s most popular search engine. According to The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft anticipates that the Bing-labeled English search results will help expand its Bing brand in China. Baidu also hopes that the partnership will help its efforts to expand its search engine to the global market. Chinese users typically use Google for English search results, however, the Chinese government has blocked that search engine — and other Google services, such as the newly launched Google+ — from time to time. Baidu will begin implementing Bing results later this year, although neither company provided an exact date as to when that functionality would be added.

Hopefully MS puts in a fuss about filtering results like Google did. If they were chosen simply because they agreed to comply 100% with what China wanted (ie censoring pretty much anything against part ideology) then that is pretty lame.

google didnt “put a fuss” about anything, they were hacked and they werent making enough money, so they left.

Good move by Microsoft. Google has tried continually to break the Chinese market by going it alone but has always failed. By partnering with the biggest search engine in China, Microsoft have chosen a really smart route to market. With Facebook integration and now English results on Baidu, Bing could see a good increase in market share.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, LiveCent.com
