Did this info come from analysts?

  • Bringit

Time to let it go Android, just let it go.  People do not want tablets.  They want iPads.

    That’s the price of freedom.

    • Michael Knight

That’s a fairly stupid assessment; do you have any facts (numbers) to back that up?

      • Bringit

Of course he does not have facts, Android users don’t like facts.  But the truth is Android has been able to give away some Android phones.  Can’t help that there are suckers out there.

I’m sure you said people don’t want Android Phones, they want iPhones. Pretty sure Android controls the market share for smartphone OS.

      • IPwn

iPad dominates the mobile tablet market, your point?

And iOS owns market share when it comes to mobile operating system, that is if you wanna compare OS to OS rather than just pick and choose what stats you wanna throw out there.

      • Anonymous

Name one time that iOS had the #1 spot in market share…Uhhh Never… Before Android, RIM had the #1 spot…

      • IPwn

Zapote21 your a classic example of a misinformed fanboy. Android is leading in market share for smartphones one category out of many other devices powered by Android. iOS leads in the mobile operating system market, they currently have a 45% chunk of the pie.

If your going to be a fanboy and troll the comments, at least know your facts so you don’t come off as uneducated.

      • Anonymous

I’m not picking and choosing, I said Smartphone OS. Android has the larger market share in Smartphone OS. World wide = 33% is Android OS, 16% is iOS.

      • Anonymous

My only point was is that Apple was ahead of Android at one point in smartphone OS. Now they’re not. Right now Apple is ahead of Android in tablet OS. The old adage of history repeating itself comes to mind…

      • IPwn

All I am saying is adoption of android tablet devices is a totally different ball park then smartphones. Androids adoption was pretty quick in smartphones not so much in tablets. The history you talk about is in one sector of mobile devices. Android has a few music players, are they going to dominate that market too? Nope. For you to say because the smartphone market is doing well this means everything android is going to do well is ignorant. I was making a point rather than pick and choose the smartphone market why don’t you look at it as a whole. 44% iOS worldwide 28% Android

Why doesn’t this Marketshare make Android developers any money? What version of Android is all that market share? Why do most major apps only work on 3 or 4 phones, but you people insist on pretending like android is a cohesive platform?

        Why does ginger bread suck?

Why will ice cream sandwich be worse? Android went off tracks because google allowed manufacturers to control and destroy too much experience.

If you think Android exceeds the iOS 200 million device app platform, or even comes close, you are delusional.

Yes, but as we move into the “Post PC” era of things, people are gonna want choice of product. the iPad will be successful for awhile, don’t get me wrong. And while we’re on that subject, for the record, I don’t think iOS is a bad OS, it’s just not for me. Anyways, the market is gonna be flooded with tablets soon. Look at Archos, The 8 inch one is starting around 299. 10 inch is about 399. Are these things power house tablets? Maybe not, but the are great for people who just want cheep web browsing devices with larger screens then mobile phones. Also, my comment was a reply to someone saying “Time to let it go Android, just let it go.  People do not want tablets.  They want iPads”  So I did pick comparing that to smartphones cause the same comment could have been made then and it would have been wrong. So fine, I’ll give it to you, I picked smartphones cause that’s the only field that Android has been mass produced in. Though the iPod touch will continue to sell well, I personally don’t see the need to carry any type of device of the kind if you already have a smartphone, regardless of OS.

Now to end this TLDR post. Not saying I’m right and Android will dominate, but it would be stupid to count them out as well.

@wayzom IPwn I’ll debate with cause he at least knows facts, you on the other hand I won’t debate with cause if you don’t think that Android is comparable to iOS. Even though I personally enjoy Android more, I at least give iOS it’s merits.

      • IPwn

Omni good points made. However I don’t think the “Post-PC” era is upon us yet. There are still a lot of tasks that require a computer or are easier with a computer. I don’t think we see a shift into tablet computing until Windows 8 hits tablet where it’s more transparent. I am not counting android out I just don’t see a future for their OS in that market once it morphs into full computing I think we will see windows 8 dominate the tablet computing market and Apple follow with a merge or their OSX and iOS. It is already started with Lion. The reason I don’t think android has a future in tablets is because the OS was not made to replace a computer but rather be a mobile extension of your computer.

        Really?? iOS 44% android 28%

    • Joe112

People wants ipad.?? I dont think so. Hahaha..

    • http://profiles.google.com/atypicalgeek Bernd Friedmann

Bullshit … it will come up … the iPad sucks … iPad should be easy to compete against if you have more application adjusted to size … I have a xoom after I returned that piece of apple shit … no comparison, it is so much better … people will wake up soon and buy stuff that works

WTF is the point of LTE in a tablet when it costs like $1 per minute of use?

that’s why i like my ipad 2. 64G of storage means i never need to go to the cloud for anything. and if i do there is always a starbucks or open wifi close by

    • Bearleton

There’s the rub. All that LTE speed means it’s all that much easier to break above the $20 1gig and get charged for the next bracket at $35. You just know Verizon is counting on that. Sure…everything is headed for the Cloud…along with our money. :D

  • http://twitter.com/switchstyle Shuichi Aizawa

Yeah where exactly is this pre-order.  Also, isn’t Verizon going to change the tablet and mifi data plans to be the same as smartphones on July 7th?  $30 for 2gb, etc.

  • serpentor

Can the prices be right? Only a $30 premium for 4G LTE over WIFI?

a 3G iPad is like a $130 premium over  WIFI.

    • Anonymous

      It’s on contract, that’s why

      • serpentor

Ok, makes sense, tho that should be indicated in the post.

Who are these people that will pay for these data plans? I hardly watch video on my Thunderbolt and yet I’m easily in the 8-10gb range every month.

    • Robert

I have 5 emails and receive tons of documents.  I lowered my plan to the 1G.  Do you work or just watch movies all day?  You can get a tab with wifi only.  They give you options.  As for giving away phones..AT&T will sell an iphone for $49 ever since verizon got to sell them..Yet Verizon sells them.  Remember verizon offers the ipad.  If you don’t want 3G or 4G then go to best buy and get an ipad or samsung tab.  Whats the difference? You seem to just hate verizon.

      • Anonymous

I watch some video but its not a daily or even weekly thing. I went from about 250mb a month on my blackberry to 8-10gb a month on the thunderbolt and I am still not sure how, aside from a soccer game every now and then everything else is the same. I definately wouldnt say I hate verizon, I am a customer. I think they are hurting themselves with the pricing of the plans.

The only reason Sammy keeps making these tablets is because they are the only android tablet maker selling any tablets.

    • Irishfascist1986

Um wrong me and my two roomates have the acer iconia, one person I work with has different tablet and I know two other people that have the xoom, now go back mac land with all the other douche Apple trolls.

      • Anonymous

I’m sorry the SIX android tablets that you and your friends may or may not have are really helping out the oem’s from which they came. Get real man. Go do a iPad count smartass then come talk to me I’ll be in macland with all the other apple trolls.

  • IPwn

@Zapote21… You’re a case in point on how you take blog headlines and bend them to make you feel better about the OS. Android owns the smartphone market share. The mobile operating system market is owned by apple last time I looked it was like 45% of the market.

If your gonna be a fanboy at least know your facts, thanks.

    • Robert

Agreed…apple had the spot…until android hit the market and it took 25 months for them to have more phones running android than apple has iphones.  Apple has 350000 apps and android 150000 with 200K expected in few months.  No one has ever seem them all have they?  So what does apple have or the competition exactly?  There not hacked like microsoft…Andriod works with more devices than anyone else..same as microsoft years ago…Apple will be #2 to android like they are to microsoft.

iOS developers made over 2 billion dollars and Android developers less then 100 million. It is more then jacking up the count of Apps. It is the fact that netflix and hulu and other major apps only work on 3 or 4 models of handset.

Keep dreaming that Android is something it is not, if it helps you feel better..

  • keymaker

Those data plans are super expensive and add a 2 year contract are you’re screwed.

  • Anonymous

This thing is going to set Android tablet land on fire. I expect dozens of people will buy these.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, LiveCent. com

  • http://twitter.com/EricSeale Eric in Milpitas

So they add 130$ to the price for an LTE modem and the subsidy is only 100$ ??

This is soooo close to awesomeness but the price is a joke.

  • Max

How’s that RIMjob Playbook lookin’ about now, eh BB Morons? 7″. Oh, and with a 5.5″ border it looks like. So what..1.5 inch of viewable screen? LOL. Idjits.
