Facing criticisms, Apple posts Final Cut Pro X FAQ

Software

After facing criticisms from the professional community over several changes in Final Cut Pro X, Apple has updated its website with a new frequently asked questions page that explains the changes and, in some cases, why they were made. In response to the question, “Can I import projects from Final Cut Pro 7 into Final Cut Pro X?” Apple explains that “Final Cut Pro X includes an all-new project architecture structured around a trackless timeline and connected clips.” Due to these changes, there’s no way to bring old files into the new software without losing or changing some of your data. That said, Apple did note that Final Cut Pro 7 will work with OS X Lion and that users can continue to use it after installing Final Cut Pro X. Similarly, Apple noted that Final Cut Pro X will support “great” multicam editing in the next major release. It will also add the ability to export XML files. An update allowing the ability to add metadata tags to audio clips will also be issued this summer, too.

What? No comments from analysts about Final Cut Pro X?

That they could characterize the violent PR storm they unleashed over the past week as, “the application has impressed many pro editors, and it has also generated a lot of discussion in the pro video community,” tells you all you need to know. And trust me, those of us who do know will tell you that the “FAQ” is just more of the same stonewalling/let-them-eat-cake attitude about the continued sale of their New Coke.

I still wonder who these ‘pro’ editors are. I highly doubt any actual pros that make anything worth watching use Final Cut. I could be wrong. Maybe they’re referring to YouTube pros?…

Apple are so full of shit, they disgust me. As cynical as Gaddaffi who would spin some crap to come out looking like the good guy, Jobs and Co have a major problem with integrity, particularly the words that come out of their mouths.
Editors are extremely pissed of, and those that are not are very disappointed. The few that are neither are not serious editors or are blinkered fanboys.
Apple’s closed mentality displays their arrogance. That they know best. Clearly they do not. Again style over content prevails. This time the content is so poor that even Apple loyalists have taken notice.
Shame on you Apple, I am packing my bags.

      Wow… that’s a whole lot of hyperbole.

Maybe its just my anecdotal observations but apple has a really poor track record for supporting backwards compatibility.

    Apple FAQ:

    Q: Does it work?
A: If you use it right.

    Wonderful.

Apple has always been ruthless when it comes to backwards compatibility. On the one hand, it does wonders for increasing the stability of your operating system and associated software. On the other hand… sometimes people get fucked. This is one of the times where people got fucked.

The beautiful thing about it (from Apple’s point of view) is that all these people are complaining, but they’re going to purchase the software anyway. If you’re not going to put your money where your mouth is, why should I care about the wind coming out of your facehole?

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, LiveCent.com
