4G LTE iPad soon to be in testing according to leaked AT&T document

mobile

Over the weekend, the hacking group LulzSec announced that after 50 days of hacking targets such as Sony and the U.S. government, it was stopping its operations. As a parting gift, the group leaked a number of internal AT&T documents, including the above image that suggests AT&T will test a 4G LTE version of its iPad between November and December of this year. That’s in line with earlier suggestions from research firm CLSA, which said earlier this month that Apple would launch a new 4G LTE capable iPad in time for the holidays — though it certainly wouldn’t leave much margin for error if the tests don’t go according to plan. Other rumors suggest the iPad 3 won’t launch until sometime in 2012, and the timing dictated by this document would make that scenario much more likely.

I’m honestly looking forward to seeing how ATTs LTE speed matches up with VZW

    • IPwn

It should be about the same. However, AT&Ts spectrum will not penetrate building as well and I foresee it having issues in areas that have dense tree coverage (Oregon/Washington)

I haven’t heard if Verizon is planning to do any upgrading to their 3G
network at all (if it is even possible with CDMA), I mean I would rather revert back from Fast LTE to 3G+
with HSPA+ Speeds than current CDMA speeds in limited LTE coverage
        areas.

someone seems a bit late regarding this news. smh.

More like day and half late.

In unrelated news, Apple to stop sharing all information with outside parties, forever.

It will launch between February and April.

Educated guess. See? Anyone can be an analyst.

Does it matter?  It will be a typically crappy Apple product.  Not a single quality product EVER has come out of Cupertino.  This is the belief of Goofans (aka Apple Haters) all around the world…

  • Notnow

They’re going to test it in late November/early December, make all the tweaks necessary, and it’ll be ready for sale by Christmas?   Does that seem a bit, um, aggresssive?

This is not a new iPad – this is testing existing iPads on the LTE network.

CDMA is pretty much maxed out where it stands.. They have done SVDO upgrades however, which is a plus. I live in an area where CDMA speeds are faster than 3G for AT&T. I can only imagine the increase in speeds once LTE is fully expanded and people offload the 3G. Not to mention Verizon LTE footprint will match their 3G in 2013.. No one matches Verizon’s 3G coverage.

Huh, you obviously didn’t see the report on engadget that shows at&t as the most reliable fastest 3g network. Getting a3g connection over 90% of the time. You also fail to realize they have dropped 40 billion in network upgrades the last 2 years. No other company in america invested more.

      • Fructose

Because there was an outcry from users, it shouldn’t take complaining to upgrade a network. Are they going to do the same with lte when that is launched?

      • Anonymous

Or it could be they were stockpiling cash in other to build a massive lte network as opposed to limiting it to major cities airports

Ummm, no.  Testing in November/December?  That implies release around the usual time-Spring 2012.
