Hulu Plus launches for six Android phones as company is put up for sale

mobile

Hulu announced on Thursday that its Hulu Plus application is now available on select Android smartphones. The service costs $7.99 per month and allows users to browse and play Hulu Plus content directly on their smartphones. It’s currently only available for the Motorola Atrix, Motorola DROID X, Motorola DROID 2, HTC Inspire 4G, Nexus S, and Nexus One, but Hulu says it will add more devices throughout the year. New users can sign up for a free 1-week trial to give the service a whirl, and the app is available in the Android Market now. In other news, Hulu is also reportedly up for sale. The company has hired Morgan Stanley and Guggenheim Partners to assist with possible deals, and Yahoo is said to have already expressed interest in bidding on the streaming video firm.

I hope Hulu fails. How do you charge people to watch commercials???

    • Michael Mao

Don’t know, how do cable companies do it?

    • Tim242

You pay for cable and satellite. You get commercials. That content doesn’t come cheap. To keep the prices down, commercials are required. Do you live under a rock?

LOL You can hardly compare cable/satellite to Hulu.  Do you pay to turn your radio on in your car, too?  I bet you’re one of those “Eskimo who got sold on ice” types.

comparing hulu to free radio dosent make sense. There is free tv and there is cable/sattelite. Hulu is a paid subscription just like cable and both have commercials. if you dont like it, dont buy it

You want to compare radio to tv content? You are too far gone. Yes, Hulu is
comparable to cable and Satellite. They have to pay a lot for that content.
Shows and movies cost a lot more to produce than music. You don’t live under
        a rock…you are just stupid.

@Tim242 You’re one angry little fag aren’t you? lol Don’t worry- I’d be mad if I were you, too.

I really hope Yahoo doesn’t get their mitts on Hulu. Yahoo’s great at killing awesome products.

Why Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S, Sensation, Xoom are not included?

  • http://twitter.com/KKop RvD

Feeling smarter about buying the Nexus One last year every time there’s an update like this :-)   Phone’s almost two years old, but still gets included in the latest updates: Netflix, now Hulu :-) , latest Android OS.
