Nokia’s ‘Sea Ray’ Windows Phone leaked [video]

mobile

During a recent presentation, Nokia’s CEO asked a large group of his employees to put away all cameras and recording devices because he was about to show something “top secret,” that he didn’t want leaked on the “blogosphere.” Oops… that’s exactly what just happened. The image above is of Nokia’s new Windows Phone, codenamed “Sea Ray.” While there’s little information on it now, it appears that it’s made out of plastic — a bummer if you’re like us and were waiting for a unibody aluminum Windows Phone from the Finnish company. Elop confirms there’s a gorilla glass display and a “pillow shaped backing.” A camera and shutter button are also visible, and we presume there’s either an 8-megapixel or 12-megapixel camera sensor, although that’s unclear. The device reminds us a lot of the N9, but if Nokia is already showing it to large groups of people, we suspect there will be plenty more leaks in the coming months. Elop recently confirmed that his company is on track to release its first Windows Phone by the end of this year. Hit the jump for a video of Elop discussing the Sea Ray.

Coming from a boater. I wonder if Sea Ray Boats will throw a fit over the name?

Or if this might be a water proof phone?

or if it has a flotation device built in?

or if it has a NOAA radio and cache-able GPS mapping for aquatic navigation in low HSPA/CDMA/LTE signals.

Or, it’s still just a code name..

    Plastic? what a jip

Seriously.  Welcome to the new Nokia/Windows partnership:  all of the Win7 you love, none of the Nokia design.  Plastic?  This has always been Nokia’s way, though.  We save our best designs for our worst OS’s.

How do they know it’s plastic? It looks exactly like the n9. Isn’t that aluminum?

From another tech blog article, I’ve read that the N9 is made from a fancier plastic called polycarbonate

Plastic means lighter. As long as the plastic were really good, I wouldn’t mind. But Nokia’s phones have always been plasticky on the cheap side.

        Right… E71 was soooo plasticky.

Kind of like Breitbart on Opie and Anthony “There’s no cameras” as the guy looks right at them and they track his every move, including cutting to different views.  I’m sure he didn’t want this in the blogosphere.

I want that phone and I want it NOW! *looks at Focus with disgust*

It’s kinda like being married but looking at a sexier girl. I still love my wife (Samsung Focus), but I’m feeling a little bit of lust for the younger, sexier phone. :)

Too bad we can’t get two year upgrades on the wives eh? LOL

They haven’t given up on this WP7 experiment yet even though it’s sales haven’t recovered to the point that WM6.5 was at before it was announced?

I curious what Plan B is for when they do give up.

the words he mutters at the start is just funny, we are now watching video lol. Nothing special really.

There’s another leak video of Elop’s full speech (over 20 minutes) and in it, I believe he mentions its 8 MP camera

Plus I should say “leak” since it’s suspiciously good footage plus Elop’s “effort” in preventing this from getting out.
