Screenshots reveal webOS Skype integration

mobile

HP’s webOS is already tightly integrated with a number of services but now it appears that the OS will soon offer Skype integration, too. According to leaked screenshots, users will soon be able to choose to route their calls directly through Skype from the phonebook application, an option that will no doubt save international callers a big chunk of change. Similarly, users may also be able to place Skype video calls, allowing them to use the front-facing camera on the Pre 3 for video chats. It’s unclear when the integration will be introduced, but this has us more excited than ever for the Pre 3 to finally hit store shelves.[Via theunwired]

I like how Skype wont make an app for Blackberry and it’s 60 million+ users, but they do this with Webos and it’s, what, 5 million users?

Oh right video chat is the only service Skype provides, I forgot.   That whole VOIP thing must be done.

I don’t think Skype has made this.  I believe HP has worked with them and HP integrated it into the system.

I doubt Skype made this as well. More like they used the Skype public API and built the integration themselves. They don’t need Skype to produce it, Skype made their API public so anyone can build integration into their apps.

Blackberry took its time to evolve and attack the consumer space. They have failed there and now their market value is reflecting it. Blackberry? Nothing to see there move along.

I like it but I do wonder if people will overlook the more popular OS’s for this.
