Apple could be cooking up black MacBook Air

Computers

It has been widely reported that Apple is planning to refresh its MacBook Air family later this month or early next month, and now there’s a new rumor that may make the wait even more worthwhile. According to MacRumors, the refreshed top-end MacBook Air model may also be available with a new anodized black aluminum finish — a color option that hasn’t been seen since Apple did away with the black MacBook. The image above is from Colorwave, which offers custom paint jobs for a variety of gadgets, but it’s a good idea of what such a product could look like barring the trackpad. Apple’s refresh is also expected to deliver support for the new Thunderbolt I/O port as well as Intel’s new Sandy Bridge processors. We’re definitely excited to see what the refresh entails, and the good news is we almost certainly won’t have a long wait to find out.

Every time there’s a new post about an apple product, I get a little tickle in my balls.  True story.

No the best place to go would be the Genius Bar.

Cook up a black macbook pro, then we’ll talk

      Ditto on that.

Is this going to be the white iPhone rumors all over again? Why is it that every time Apple even blows a fart the whole internet has to be informed about it? It’s JUST A COLOUR!

    • Anonymous

That was more of a story, since it wasn’t a rumor but Apple announcing it and then mysteriously delaying it.

This is, well, a slow news day type of story.

“…and now there’s a new rumor that may make the wait even more worthwhile.”

The keyword in that sentence is “rumor” ;)

I’m saying originally the white iPhone wasn’t a rumor; Apple announced it, then delayed it, THEN the rumors of “when” started… and continued… and continued…

THIS on the other hand is just a rumor. Not arguing that. So in a way, it’s worse.

      • sirpaul

@Pendergast:disqus ah, I understand. Yes, I was referring to the rumors of when the white iPhone would surface. Those truly were annoying and I acutally didn’t bother reading most of them. I don’t mind Apple news because for some reason I enjoy reading it…but the white iPhone stories truly were going overboard with the whole Apple fanboy-ism.

Because sites like BGR live from page impressions. And considering the amount of retweets and comments – it obvioulsy works damn well!
Especially the Apple haters contribute. They seem to love to read and comment on these posts.

having a magical j/o thinking about this

  • QNX Please

Only BGR would dedicate an entire article to a different colored Macbook. Where was the article for Dell computers unveiling their replaceable laptop lids?

    • Zac Caslin

      Who cares about dell anyway?

      • QNX Please

        Obviously not fanboy’s.

      • Zac Caslin

Only People who want a cheap computer that will be junk in a year will want a Dell. Kinda like yourself.

      • QNX Please

lol you’re a class act Zac. All computers are junk and obsolete in a year, even Macs. In the case of Macbook Airs, their specs are junk before they are even sold.

    • sirpaul

Remember, this is BGR we are talking about. The guys who had 21+ specifically about the iPhone, including a seperate white iPhone giveaway and review.

I say 21+ because I got tired of counting after the ’21′ point. There were more than 21 in the last year alone (I stopped counting a little past the iPad 2 release story).

Replaceable lids is not comparable to the possibility of a color not seen on a specific model of compiter from the tech company worth the most in the world.

    Black is quite slimming.

      Oh, the irony…

Once you go black you never go back

    • sirpaul

BGR begs to differ. For them it’s ‘once you go Steve Jobs you never go back’.

      • http://twitter.com/jj_hh1 J Hamburg

Thats probably because the AndoKids rather read and comment on Apple news instead of using the BGR/Andoid segment. They just get a whole lot more PI’s by that. So dont blame BGR but rather yourself.

I have a Black Macbook with a dead logic board, just like the rest of them. True story.

Colorware soooo expensive. I dont know why apple doesnt offer the Black color choice for all there notebooks.

  • Anonymous

Now, if was going to be a black carbon fiber of sorts, I’d be all over it!

  • Hockey88

New Apple innovation = offer their products in different colors.Running out of ideas and trying to wow customers with new colors is more likely the real story.

This coming from a Boot Camp user running WIN7 on non purchased Macbook Pro. I can’t wait for WIN8.
