Refreshed MacBook Air expected later this month

Computers

According to Reuters, Apple is poised to refresh its popular thin and light MacBook Air family later this month. The news outlet cited a report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily, which suggested that Apple’s first shipment will include 380,000 of the new Air units. The report is in line with earlier rumors suggesting supplies of the MacBook Air were drying up nearing a possible refresh; one analyst with Concord Securities recently suggested that Apple will upgrade its MacBook Air family in June, too. The new models are expected to carry Intel’s Sandy Bridge CPUs, new Thunderbolt I/O ports, and improved Intel graphics. Apple last refreshed its MacBook Air family on October 20th, 2010.

Not much reason to get one now that iPads are here. I think if you want to do some real computing a MacBook will be best, and if anything under (web browsing, email, reading) an iPad is alright. A beautiful design, none-the-less!

oh, crApple releasing the same product again for all the iSheep to gobble up.  How do Steve’s balls taste?  I’ll take a Samsung Chrome tablet, a Samsung DROID Tab 10.1, and Samsung Galaxy S2 DROID so I can be free of being a sheep because people who only buy DROID are not sheep like people who typically only buy crApple.

That goes to show how stupid you are. You would take a browser computer over a real one. And you call people sheep. Go get your chrome book.

Except what you don’t realize is Apple gave Android a large part of the software re-re… It’s web browsing is the base of Safari (on all of those devices)… How do them balls taste?

You would buy Samsung, Samsung, Samsung while calling others who buy a single brand sheep?

Check the resale value on those three purchases in a couple years, when compared to a current Air, iPad and iPhone. Then see how smart you feel.

Damn I was hoping they came out tomorrow (as had been previously rumored).  I want to pull the trigger on a MBP, but just want to see what the next Airs look like before I do.

Why is it always such a huge news when Apple updates their Macs? Does someone actually care? I understand a totally new model but a small speed bumb … boring!

This actually represents a fairly substantial chip-set and spec overhaul—the first step toward what will inevitably be the phasing out of the MacBook as it exists now (the white notebook design) and replacing it with the ‘Air’ design—which would mean major shift in Apple’s notebook line.

If it’s 899 on the education discount that would be amazing.

Sandy Bridge + Thunderbolt will make those much more appealing than the current gen.
