Motorola Photon 4G video hands-on

mobile

Photos not cutting it? Don’t worry, because your pals at BGR just spent some up close and personal time with the new Motorola Photon 4G. Sprint and Motorola teamed up to take the wraps off this sleek new smartphone earlier today, and we have to say, we’re impressed. With a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera, a secondary front-facing camera, support for Motorola’s webtop solution and, of course, a 4G WiMAX radio, this really might be the smartphone to beat this summer. Check out the first video hands-on of Sprint and Motorola’s first 4G device after the break!

      And not bashing it completely

the industry is flooded with tech– now im even more confused on what to get for my updgrade with sprint. one things is sure- i’m not buying a BB…unless something magical happens very soon.

      • 1eyebandit

That’s like hoping for tooth fairies and Santa to show up. Keep wishing! Blackberry is more like a rotten berry right now.

        What’s a BB???

      • Hiryu

        You mean barebacking?

“Battlestar: Galactica” still has sway I see…

Thinking the same thing… that could be a great selling point/marketing angle.

    • I Call BS

Thought that as soon as I saw it but then thought “No, no.  No one will remember that geeky piece of information.”

    kickstand? really motorola….tsk tsk

Why is Bonnie Cha on the homescreen? lol

In the “iOS 5 Day 3″ thread – 181 posts (and counting) mostly from Androidnerds doing their usual complaining that BGR has too much Apple and not enough Androoiid.

This Android thread?  6 posts, and dying a slow painful death.

    Case closed.

Haters love to hate. I… can’t be bothered too often.

    • worm

Thats because the device sells itself, do not a three day apple fest to try to sell you OLD features and tech.

Goofans (aka Apple Haters) can come up with something better than this @c3f15b7b705c28dfe5c133a512346a61:disqus !  Like, “add ALL the android posts, like the number of phones we have, and we handily beat Apple posts.  Not individually, IN UNISON!” Kinda like the phones.  Not ONE Android phone outsells the iPhone, but take us together as a team and add our 300-500 models and we beat the living shit out of that crappy phone!

    • Steve Hillshire

And every Android article has a post from you talking shit.  So what is the point of you whining about the other way around?  Quick calling the kettle black you annoying hypocrite.

      • Bringit

why do you always have to bring race into things, you smelly fart.  There happen to be black kettles out there, so what.

      • Anonymous

You is just an ignant’ lil’ kettle, black or otherwize’!

      • Bringit

@PAPINYC:disqus  = (as stated by others many times) – Worst Troll Ever.  Racist too.  And not funny.  Horrible combo.

      • Bringit

The good news for you – this Android thread all you Crydroids whined for has now climbed up to the mid-30′s in posts!  Maybe you can catch up to the 260 + in the iOS 5 Day thread.

Like Android trying to catch up to Apple – never going to happen suckah.

According to Android Central, this phone has an unlocked bootloader. Is Moto turning over a new leaf?

    • Bob

      I really really hope so…

Rumor debunked. Motorola is up to the same old, same old.

The “same old, same old” in this case being to make sure that I don’t give them any money next time I need to a buy new phone.

FINALLY Sprint comes out with some good phones that aren’t Evo-ish :-)

    • Deval

That’s what I have been waiting for…not that I don’t love my EVO of course.

      • http://www.thetechtemple.com The Tech Temple

If there aren’t any problems with it after it’s released, hopefully I’ll be getting one.

    Awesome video!!
Jonathan are you feeling okay? Or, has the heat in NYC today damaged your cerebral iCortex?

  • Anonymous

Sprint needs to stop the madness with all of those bars. They don’t make your shitty signal look any better.

  • Scott

Want to know how well that video played on my N1? Like complete SHIT! I’ve had a fair taste of both sides and I can say, IMHO, I can’t wait for iPhone 5 so I can go back. It’s so nice to pull up a video and have it play in the native video player. Yeah, flash is kind of cool… when it works. And it worked like garbage for the above video.

    • numetheus

Yeah I find it frustrating. Tons of sites do html5 now, so on the iPhone all videos play fast in a native browser with touch friendly controls and a smooth as butter interface. On my Android I have to use the flash video player that is not as fast and with tiny controls made for mouse use.

      • Anonymous

        A fitting comment from a mini-mouse..

      • numetheus

There is nothing mini about this here.

    • Anonymous

Must have been your phone or network?!
Played flawlessly, flawlessly I tell you, on my DROID X!

    • Bringit

An honest Android user.  Refreshingly nice to see.

  • Bob

Looks like I found my next phone. Hope they can root this phone quickly so I don’t have to deal with motoblur nonsense…

  • Robdeezle

i like it i like it alot.. of course i have to wait to see it run through its paces but other than that great first impression.

So theyre following Bonnie Cha huh?

  • http://twitter.com/Dirtball_Rotten Dirtball Rotten

this writer Geller is a clown….he was so anxious to slob apples knob that at 10am this morning he crowned ios (apple) as the phone (os) to beat now 3 hrs later he is now saying the photon is the phone to beat… lmao

  • Flintchesthair

    ….and 15 min battery life.

Is it just me or does this thing look like Sprint’s version of the Atrix?
