HTC sees record revenue for second consecutive month in May

Business

HTC saw its monthly revenue in May surpass NT$40 billion for the first time in the company’s history. Taiwan Economic News reports on Thursday that HTC’s May revenue came in at NT$40.6 billion, or US$1.6 billion, thanks to continued high demand for its smartphones. Revenue was up 115% compared to the same month last year, and up from NT$38.73 billion last month, which had also set a company record. The cell phone maker’s revenue now totals NT$183.5 billion (US$6.3 billion) through the first five months of 2011, up 145% compared to the same period in 2010. The trend is expected to continue, as analysts project HTC’s June revenue to climb 10% to NT$44 billion.

And they will see more if they keep their word on unlocking the Bootloader stuff.

I love their phones, they can improve on the camera and battery, and I love the Android community.

And all these silly kids saying these guys don’t make money on android…
    ;)

Relative to Apple and RIM, no one does. If Apple or RIM reported $6.5 billion in revenue in 5 months their entire leadership would be fired. Apple made $12 billion last quarter, just from the iPhone, and RIM made $5.6 billion just last quarter.

So what? We’re not talking about Apple or RIM.

HTC has seen its revenue increase significantly due to Android.

You wrote this, and I explained why people make this claim. If you didn’t want a response to this, don’t write it. Easy.

Fact: HTC is making money off android.

Fact: Individuals who claim they don’t make money off android are wrong.

Still want bring up comparative stats despite them having absolutely nothing
to do with these simple facts?

        Easy.

I think HTC, is only concerned with their own revenue.

Duh? Why is that a bad thing? They keep making good products and doing good deeds for their consumers because of this very fact.

Like you I hate Apple and I love anyone related to Google.  But that said, you do know that revenue is not equal to profits?  Right?  They didn’t MAKE all that money.  You are a Goofan (aka Apple Hater), like me, and as such MUST have superior intellect.  That’s why I assume you know this.

For once you make some sense.
Unless you see their financial statements you can never really guage their perfomance. You need to look at their gearing ratios, ROCE, ROE, sales margin, asset turnover e.t.c
If you know anything about business an increase in revenue means nothing. A lot of factors will affect the final operatiing. Even still that does not mean that the profit they make equals money in the bank.

      Thailand?

It’s all good for them now, but later shit will hit the hard, very hard!

They will surpass Apple within a month or two…  They are a MUCH better company.  At least that’s what my fellow Goofans (aka Apple Haters) tell me it’s a fact.  And I trust them and Google implicitly.

If they continue supporting windows phone 7 they will. Its only a matter of time before wp7 becomes an epidemic.

      • Steve Hillshire

I always wondered what was going to become of HTC’s WP7 line when this big love affair between MS and Nokia kicks in full force.  You know Nokia will have access to “secret” APIs that MS hooks them up with while HTC will get the scraps.  Good thing HTC makes some of the best Android phones out there.  And they should….their first smart phone came out in 2002…just a tad before some other manufacturers :)

I believe having unlocked bootloaders and being friendly to their consumers are helping too
