Let’s just be honest… Microsoft and Sony’s keynotes this year weren’t earth-shakers, but that’s expected as both companies are sticking to their current console paths. Nintendo, however, is going to introduce the company’s next-generation console, known as “Project Cafe,” or the Wii 2, Wii HD, Nintendo Feel — whatever it’s called. It’s rumored to be a major update, complete with touchscreen controllers, and it might even be more powerful than Microsoft and Sony’s gaming consoles.

Nintendo is introducing a new system because the Wii is not making money after PS3 and Xbox took the casual gamer with the PS3 Move and Kinect. I’m sure they will have a powerful system for today’s standards considering they sort of dropped the ball with the Wii. Nintendo is stigmatized as the company that caters to the youth gamer. Nintendo is not known for the God or War, Call of Duty or Halo crowd, they are the Mario, Zelda, Metroid type of people. Plus to come out before any of the other two companies come out with a new system and in the economic climate. It’s either going to make or break Nintendo. The 3DS is not doing well right now. Sony’s NGP or PS VITA is going to be a very hard sell… (In my opinion) and a new system from Nintendo is going to position Xbox and Sony to sell more system because there are tons of games for those established systems. By doing this, it’s only going to abandon the Wii all together. I don’t think this is a great move, but we will see how it goes. I’m looking forward to Nintendo press conference.

“and it might even be more powerful than Microsoft and Sony’s gaming consoles.”  Five years later!  It better be!!! WTF.

It will be more powerful, but ask your self this.. One, how powerful does a system have to be to play Mario, Zelda, Smash brothers, Metroid.. And, the powerful system is going to only last at least one year and I say that because you know Microsoft and Sony will top it come the next year after. Nintendo has been and will continue to be one step behind. They have lost some third party developers to the other systems and Nintendo lived on their own games and their have not been any new IP from Nintendo for years.

Nintendo has always been ahead of the curve as from as creativity is concerned. They’ve always focused more on gameplay and ideas instead of graphics. But with HD TV’s they see what they have to do. i’m pretty sure sony & microsoft will steal some of their ideas. Nintendo will be the one to eventually make the best system ever. If not this one or the next, one will
