Gaming

Microsoft’s own Xbox Live homepage recently leaked some new details that we should be hearing about shortly at its annual E3 press conference in Los Angeles. According to the website, which appears to have been pulled, Microsoft will introduce Voice Search within a newly redesigned Xbox Live user interface and preview the ever-popular Halo francise’s new release, Halo 4. The website also mentioned a possible Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition and new titles such as Kinect Sports Season 2 and Dance Central 2. We won’t have long to wait — Microsoft’s press conference is set to kick off at 9:00 a.m. Pacific / 12:00 p.m. Eastern.

Halo 4′s tagline: “Finish the fight. Again. For the last time. Maybe. But probably not.”

and they succeed by serving two markets with one game.

        1. those who want a interactive epic superhero story, difficult enough to provide a challenge, but not to the point of being a pain in the ass to slow you down too much,,, shoot, kill, see what happens next.

        2. those who want simple competitive multiplayer action with a simple learning curve for hours of competitive action, a lesson taken directly from counter-strike and q3 CTF.

and, it also says something when essentially all game trailers since Halo 3 (maybe even earlier i cant remember) are story driven vignettes, and need not to show any game play at all…

AAANND, @Yes_iHave_an_iPhone:disqus , keep in mind Halo’s original developer Bungie, was at one point a Mac only game developer, bringing the first decent first person shooters to Mac, among some other top quality Mac only games. MS identified the cult following of Bungie, and was probably the #1 reason why they bought them in the first place. We’ll just have to see if 343 Industries ensures future halo projects keep pace the the true bungie games.

People complain about more halo games, yet cheer for super mario 995. “Haters gon hate” I guess.

The mario franchise consistently reinvents its gameplay mechanics. It also never had a definitive storyline to tie up and subsequently reopen again for convoluted reasons.

      Halo, not so much.

Has Nintendo ever sold a Mario game under the premise that it was the last Mario game you’d ever see?

The difference is of course that one company is being disingenuous…. And the other company is selling new stories revolving around its mascot…

Really.  MS needs to STOP leaking out information and SHOULD wait until the official anouncment.  They are not doing any justice by leaking these information to the general public.    To me, it done more harms then goods (imo)
