T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide gets pictured

Exclusive

One of our sources spent some time with the upcoming T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide, codenamed Doubleshot, and he was able to snap a few quick photos of the device to show the world. It runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and also features HTC’s latest Sense UI 3.0. We’ve been told the device runs “just as smoothly as the HTC Sensation” and is “much faster than the myTouch 4G.” An 8-megapixel camera is confirmed as is a shiny metal back cover, though our source indicates that the display isn’t 3D as had been rumored by other publications. In fact, the screen “isn’t anything to write home about,” but apparently the Android navigation buttons are softer than on the myTouch 4G and the slide-out QWERTY keyboard keys are “squishy” like the T-Mobile G2. T-Mobile is shooting for a launch during the first or second week in July, we’re told. One more shot after the break!

Finally a good QWERTY dual-core Android phone for T-Mobile. Everything about the G2 was good except for that flimsy hinge.. couldn’t get over that. This should do the trick.

I’ve never thought of my G2′s keyboard being squishy.  At all.

On another note, seems interesting that the MT4G Slide seemingly be the first to deviate from the custom-tailored “Espresso UI.”  I never did understand the point of having a revised Sense just for the myTouch brand.

I think it will still come with the Espresso UI.  Sorry, it’s just a myTouch thing (besides the first one).

3D might be overkill, which in the cellphone industry, is sometimes a good thing

I never liked the metal battery door, it heats up after a little.  Also, if they made the screen a bit bigger about 4″ would be better cause its hard to type on.  Lastly, make the freaking battery last a FULL day on full use!  Only then will I be happy with an Android.  They die too easily.

Why the @#$^ would you be trying to type on the screen on a QWERTY phone?  This is not the phone for you.  Go get a Sensation.

      • Mavricxx

Dude, if you gonna be rude like that and don’t have something positive to add don’t bother replying!  Everyone has different ways of using their phone maybe I feel like using the touchscreen sometimes and maybe other times the query, either way you never know which you’ll like better till you try it.  Everyone is different.

He’s right though, you don’t get this phone for the screen size for typing, you’re getting it for the keyboard.  If screen size for typing is what matters to you, an all touch device is what to get.  I could be wrong but I don’t even think there is a QWERTY slide out option with a touch screen bigger than 3.7″ for anyone?

The Epic 4G has a 4in screen. I get what he is saying though. I have a G2 and while I use the keyboard all the time, there are a couple times I use the on screen keyboard for some short texts. But the reason I want a 4in screen isnt to type (even though it would be a plus) is just to have the extra space for games, watching movies or whatever.

Yeah an extra .3in isnt a deal breaker for me but again would be nice. Either way, if this phone can live up to my G2 which runs perfect for me, I will be getting it.

Damn, time to replace my Mytouch 4g!

There’s something about the name “mytouch” that makes me cringe and thinks of the device as a cheap toy.

It was posts made by people who didn’t own one (strangely most owned plastic Motorolas or Samsungs)..  Can’t vouch for the 4G, but I own a 3G and it’s well built and going strong for so very close to 2 years.. When those nay sayers who called them cheap toys reach the same age as my 3G.. I’d gladly compare it.. (although it’s about to retire to a drawer somewhere soon and replaced by a Sensation)

Verizon and AT&T pricing.. nuff said.. Their phones ? .. well AT&T is coming around and Verizon has a couple that I would get if there were no other option than Verizon.. Sprint ?.. pricing good, but Wimaxx and CDMA just can’t do it.. T Mobile has everything I want.. too bad it doesn’t for you.. Now that I have said my thoughts on the other companies, and my choice being T Mobile.. Do I want the other companies to die ? .. no.. Why would you want T Mobile to go under ? .. How does it benefit you ? .. what do you win  ?
