Chinese government denies hacking Google

General

On Wednesday hackers based in China broke into hundreds of Gmail accounts, including those of journalists, Chinese political activists, U.S. government officials, and government employees from South Korea. Given the aforementioned targets and recent revelations that China has a branch of its military focused on cyber activities, it may seem like China’s government had a role in the attack. On Thursday, however, China denied any involvement in the the breach, according to The Wall Street Journal. Hong Lei, a spokesman for the Chinese government, said that the accusations were “unacceptable” and that any allegation suggesting that “the Chinese government supports hacking activity is entirely a fabrication.”

That is so derogatory, calling those poor Chinese little. They’re rumoured to be small but, we really don’t have a confirmation on that.
      Let’s ask Senor Chang???

yea whatever….if you can imagine any conceivable way that a country ‘might’ have information that could be threat against your own country….you’ll justify hacking as a way to preserve national security and deny it

Funny how they never conduct any investigation and always deny the accusation right away. If they want a gmail invite, just give me a shout.

Again with the “broke in”. No one broke into anything. No one hacked anything. As Schneier said earlier today: Why is this news? Seriously?

#1: As previously stated, nobody broke into anything. Falling to a phishing attack is either clever design by the person who gets your info or a strict ID-10T error.

#2: What else would they say? It’s not like they’re going to admit it if they did.

Probably because no one “hacked” Google.

Of course the China government did it according to their logic: nobody is innocent.
Then China government is guilty as well like they did forwards Ai Wei Wei.

Does the Chinese government think the rest of the world fools? There are other hacking incidents sourced from China that would likely not have been done by your average user… That being said when the targets of interest involve governments and government research, it is usually an opposing government that was responsible.
