Google’s Nexus 3 could sport buttonless design, but we doubt it will look like this

mobile

A tech enthusiast site called TechHog recently leaked an image of what it says is the upcoming third Nexus-branded smartphone from Google. Though the site’s post has since been pulled, the photo shows a phone with a buttonless design built by HTC and a form factor that slightly resembles that of the iPhone 3GS. If Google wants to ditch the Android menu keys on its next Nexus device — which would presumably run Ice Cream Sandwich, likely eliminating the need for the typical Android menu keys — we’re all for it, but we’re not so sure this particular image is even real. Hit the jump for a zoomed-in portion of the photo that shows a jagged border typically seen when a Photoshopper isn’t careful enough with the clone stamp tool — just one of several problems that leads us to believe the image is not authentic.

Nicely done, BGR. I notice it now in the larger image. It appears again toward the bottom right, making it look like a giant square piece was edited in.

I think the article did state that they had to edit the photo to anonymise it.

editing it to anonymise and editing to falsify are different.

This is great news! My Nexus S is getting really old. Thank god for this!

      How old? 6 months old?

        That’s ancient in Android geek-land.

Whatever the case, we all know that the next Nexus will Closely resemble something like this: a clean, buttonless interface. And I hope its a Super-duper AMOLED Plus display with power-sipping, electrowetting technology and RGB striping. Death to PenTile!!!!!

This is just a Bell branded Incredible S.

The image is suspect, even beyond the cries of PHOTOSHOP. Obviously the visual cues suggest old iPhone (or Samsung Vibrant) meets Incredible S, but without the latter’s extended bezel to support the rotating face buttons. HTC hasn’t made any flagship devices this cheap-looking in some time, especially with the soft-touch finish they’ve favored in the last year-plus. Kind of resembles the body of the phantom, RAW-toting WP7 device Eldar was showing off earlier (and by extension, the Trophy, I guess). Maybe it’s suggestive of HTC’s next design push? Could be real, but the device confuses me.

Is it the HTC passion ? lol

It looks like they could’ve blurred out another watermark. because right below it, the rest aligns with the top part….

This was photoshoped to protect the person leaking the phone. They had to black out the screen.

I’m ok with it. I’m mostly just happy that it’s HTC and not crappy, plasic Samsung. The Nexus S is a fail in the eyes of those with an N1 (like me). How do you not include an SD card slot? Come on Google… Don’t let us down!

HTC phones have horrendous battery life. What’s the point of solid build with whimpy battery. I sincerely hope it’s not going to be made by HTC. BTW, I own an HTC phone too.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, MadCent. com
