YouTube now streams 3 billion videos each day

Google’s YouTube team on Wednesday announced two milestones to help celebrate its 6-year anniversary. Most notably, YouTube stated that as of this past weekend, the site now serves over 3 billion videos each day. That’s equal to half the world’s population watching one YouTube video each day, and it represents an increase of 50% over last year. The company also said that over 48 hours of footage is uploaded to the site every minute, which is a 100% increase over last year. Needless to say, YouTube has become an Internet staple over the past six years and try as they might, competitors have yet to come close to seeing the tremendous adoption YouTube has experienced.

If only there weren’t so many that are utter garbage, and just reading the comments, let’s you know that the collective IQ of so many of the posters is below average, and that’s being nice…

I’m finding your post difficult to masturbate to.

Someone is pulling more than their fair share of the “half the population everyday watches a video” statistic…

They were not making money before. Heaven forbid you pay nothing to upload, network and watch your favorite videos. Do you not like companies making money and growing the economy?

fyi .I have (slmost)  NEVER watched YOU TUBE nor do I know that it has ANY purpose whatsoever.  (My daughter involved me with something—but I have yet to understand why, and WHAT FOR, is youtube??)   Therefore, please–someone—tell me the purpose  of “YouTube”??   Is “youtube” only an EGO TRIP for people who have nothing better to do with their lives??

This is explains why it’s so slow … nearly unusable at times, especially HD videos.

I think the commenting function is a totally useless feature and just adds more to the growing unproductive time people spend online watching, mostly … garbage.  But everyone’s an artist (in their own minds).
