Amazons launches Mac Download Store

Computers

Amazon on Thursday announced yet another online application store, this time for Mac OS X users. The Amazon Mac Download Store will compete directly with Apple’s own Mac App Store, and there will be no love lost between these two giants. There are currently 201 software titles and 51 different games available, including full blown apps like Microsoft Office and Intuit QuickBooks, and hit games such as Dragon Age: Origins. Customers can quickly purchase and download applications using their Amazon accounts, and purchases are automatically backed-up in case you need to reinstall the apps at a later date.

Android only gets one Amazon launching an app store. Macs get the whole group!

Well, you certainly can’t say that Amazon isn’t doing everything in their power to challenge Apple.

I LOVE how on android it’s the “amazon app store” and on Mac it’s “amazon download store”.

Because it has nothing to do with apps?

The only difference between and App and “download” is the name. If it’s a program, game or tool, it’s still just an app.

Come on Amazon. Grow some balls and name it “Amazon Mac App Store” or are you afraid make them mad again?

    • YourMom

Or….. it has nothing to do with apps or the iphone retard. It does say MAC right? /facepalm

you do realize that “app” is short for “application,” which happens to be the same name used for programs that run on…. you guessed it, computers (Macs are PCs that run a priority operating system, just incase you weren’t following that logic).
