If only it had a slideout QWERTY… it’d happily replace my OG Droid.

WTF kind of article is this? This is pathetic BGR and you’re being desperate for page clicks.

Looks too much like HTC’s design!! LAWSUIT!!!!

    • Brad

It looks a lot closer to a Motorola than an HTC, with that button configuration.  More than that though, why have I not seen any outrage about the custom UI on this device?  Can nobody see that it appears to be a direct ripoff of Samsung’s TouchWiz?  I’m surprised Samsung hasn’t sued over it.

Why do all these new android phones come out with 2.2 rather than 2.3? Seems strange that android phones come with old versions of software rather than the current release…

    • Anonymous

It takes a long time to create a differentiating overlay that slows down the Android experience. By the time they’ve finished thoroughly embedding their overlay into everything such that it’ll take a year to push an update out, then and only then can they release the phone.

If LG doesn’t have an overlay, then they just couldn’t be bothered. Neither would surprise.

      • Anonymous

Oh, so it’s their skinning that’s doing it.  Geesh, how silly and a shame. Oh well, guess I will stick with iOS for now…

      • Anonymous

Aww man… suckered by an Apple troll. Well done, very subtle.

      • Anonymous

Wasn’t trolling at all. Was a honest question.  Thanks for your response — really, I am not being sarcastic :)  Phew, not everyone is argumentative, really! :)

      • Anonymous

Ah. In that case, nevermind. But yeah, overlays and carriers are the major reason that every phone company is always a major version release behind Android. By the time Eclair became common, FroYo was out. FroYo’s common, so Gingerbread’s out.

Google signed that agreement with all the major phone manufacturers that basically says that they have to stop being assholes and release these updates in a timely manner, but we’ll see how well that works. I fully expect Gingerbread to be on all new phones… six months after Ice Cream comes out.

Everyday I continue to ponder my iPhone 4 purchase on verizon

I love how the other carriers are releasing beastly 4G devices for $199 but Verizon insists on releasing pieces of crap for $250 and $300.

    F U Verizon!

    • Tylah2009

LTE is way more expensive. WiCrap and SSPA+ is cheap.

    Verizon is on drugs.

I stopped reading after “Bing Search and Maps”

Really?  Don’t they have a fricken’ Windows Phone 7 device coming, do they have to muck up Android phones with Bing?

    • Tylah2009

You can download Google maps and search because it is 2.2.

      • Robert McClurg

so if can download google maps and search, is there a problem with ms bing and maps being on the phone too?

      • Rick

Besides seeing it has Bing crap installed, on the back of the phone it does not say “with Google” and don’t know if it will get android OS updates. As history tells us with the VZW fascinate which has Bing and does not say “with Google.”

So, the OG EVO’s offspring are finally starting to hatch albeit a year too late! Glasses Free 3D, Dual Core 1.2 GHZ, QHD Display, All-You-Can-Eat  4G @ 9Mb/s in my Neighborhood  FTW it’s Sprint!!!!!!

    • Anonymous

does sprint really roam for free on verizon’s network?

      • http://twitter.com/yankees368 Jason

        yes

      • mpciii

        Only 1x data though.

      • worldbfree4me

Sprint has had a 3G roaming agreement with for a while now. Rarely do I go into an area where such a handover (roaming) takes place, but to answer your question that definitely is not unlimited. However, worry not my friend, there is plenty of room onboard the Sprint bandwagon for you and others :)

And Voice calls come from your minutes if you don’t have unlimited.  So for instance if you have 1500 minutes to any number (mobile to mobile is unlimited) you’ll still use your minutes even if you do call another mobile number while roaming.

    • Tylah2009

More like 9Kbps. Sprints WiMax sucks. With all the spectrum they have, you would think they would make it fast, but haven’t. But, they don’t have any money, so they are SOL.

      • worldbfree4me

In Dallas it is 6 to 9 mb/s all day everyday Son! BTW, Sprint has atleast 50 million subscribers and counting (Welcome Aboard those of you that are sick and tired of paying too much for mobile data). If you do the math on that kind of revenue I’d say that Sprint has plenty of leverage to get done whatever they need to get done, including bail out CLEAR and provide them the capital and spectrum to ultimately deploy LTE. Also, in addition to Bestbuy and others, Comcast just signed on to allow Sprint to power their 3G devices… source Gigaom.

Why is it that Android icon sizes are different? That’s always bugged me how they aren’t a uniform size. It’s not a huge deal but I hate how it makes the home screen look with different sized icons all over the place.

  • Pnicuh

Naw no good, waiting for the Droid Bionic that’s the phone I’m getting

We had a saying/rule in my fraternity when I was back in college for parties: no fat bitches.

But seriously, the UI looks nice but 4.3″ and that thickness don’t agree with my pocket.

    • joshie

Wait, it’s been 4 hours and no one has posted the usual idiotic reply:

“Stop wearing your girlfriend’s jeans LOL! A 4.3″ phone fits fine in my cargo pants! Stupid hipster!”

I’m impressed. And I agree with you, 4.3″ is too big.

    Cool looking device.

  • Sandrocks9000

Wow nice looking phone but Verizon has to go add bing to it a mess it up! Bong is for windows 7 not android!

Seems a bit pricey doesnt it?

  • Bj

    no dual core???

  • Bj

    LOL bing-FAIL

  • Anonymous

It’s inexcusable that any phone launched now has a 1 year old OS. Why is is so damn difficult to make a phone that has current specs and OS.

Also, Uber Fail on the bing. this phone is handicapped from day 1.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_JNKVTT7PJMXPYP2GVCIERBQQCU Andrew

How does this phone come out after the G2X and be a step down and higher priced?  I don’t get it.  And it looks like it will have LG’s UI so no timely updates for the non-hacker-wannabes

  • joshie

Bing, 2.2, single core, $250, VZW Crapware. Yeah that’s quite a revolution in ripping off your customers!

Also, nothing about the screen other than its size.
