    Oh sure. Gingerbread is only six months old. I’m sure it’s coming any day now.

    Droid Does!

    I dont understand why new phones are still equipped with 2.2 instead of 2.3. My thunderbolt came with 2.2 and I’m still waiting on 2.3. If I don’t get 2.3 next month, this will be my first and last Android device. There should be no excuse why a new phone is still running 2.2 and the new software is been out for at least 6 months. Period.

      Hi Sal;
      I understand why new phones are still equipped with 2.2 instead of 2.whatever.  When manufacturers put custom UI’s (read bloatware motoblur, touchwiz and sense), they cannot just switch to 2.3 when development was to insert their bloatware custom ui into android 2.2

      That is also why you wait, and wait, and wait, for them to figure out how to make blur and sense, and wiz play nice with the new version of android.

        And then by the time they figure it out, 2.4 will be out.

    Of course it will get gingerbread, there have been 4 leaks over the past month and a half, you guys are slow and dull

    Except for the stupid “you can’t customize it how you want it” iphone, if ANY carrier releases an update for a phone, it’s almost a SHOCK!  They could care less if an update is pushed out to the end user, as it runs counter to their stupid business model.  Sell them a phone, delay any updates (especially if they have NEW features), then 11-12 months later when people complain about their phone, they can say, well, that phone is a year old, but this new one has more “stuff”, now if you get a new one, we’ll extend your contract….THAT is their sole purpose.  Keep them locked to a contract.  I bet 70% of the wireless phone users don’t care about updates, don’t look for updates.  They just want the phone to work, and if buying a new one every 12 months does the trick, that is all they care about.  And the “big 2″ just smile all the way to the bank.
    Most “tech” savy users just head over to XDA, modaco or one of the other sites and flash them to how THEY want. It’s just that the phone manufactures are hand tied by the carriers and keep boot loaders and the like locked down (or try to), just to keep the carriers happy. Until enough people get fed up, that model will continue.

    No update yet for me on my Droid X. I really hope this comes out and fix the problems with this phone, because its a piece of crap. My wife’s Droid Incredible works great. Can’t wait to get off this phone. I will never buy a Motorola phone again as long as live.

    • Jallison

      Wow… I guess it is all about how you use it.  My DX is freakin awesome. I have had it since July 2010 and have customized it quite a bit.  It is snappy and does everything I ask it to.  The wife has a Droid Incredible, and it is OK, but the Sense UI just gets in the way, as pretty as it is…  Anyway, Love MY DX and Love the Motorola hardware accessories.  My phone will most likely be a Moto with a Keyboard Dock, Dual Cams, LTE, and VZW… just need to wait for “that phone” to be released.

      Cheers

    Good.  Now only a few weeks more for devs to churn out CFW based off it that removes all the crap, and we’re golden.
