T-Mobile G2x not being pulled; ‘high demand has resulted in inventory contraints’

mobile

After hearing some reports that the T-Mobile LG G2x was being pulled possibly for defects, we reached out to T-Mobile for comment. According to T-Mobile, that’s not the reason the phone has been so hard to find. Instead, the G2x has been so popular that there have been inventory constraints. Here’s the full statement we received from T-Mobile:

The T-Mobile G2x with Google has been a highly popular device with both customers and employees since its launch last month, and high demand has resulted in inventory constraints, which we are working with LG to address.

After spending some time with the T-Mobile G2x, we didn’t find any manufacturing defects or issues with the handset.

Apparently the “Android A$$holes” were already cued.

Android users at least do not need the help of some “Genius” to replace the battery.

Ya reading the comments on this page and many other android phone write ups people seem really happy. :-/ Moron

That’s interesting, I had to take mine back because of signal issues. Support told me they were working with LG for a solution. Even mentioned the possibility of suspending sales. It was a great phone just did not get the same signal strength. I was using it next to a friend that had a sidekick 4g and she was able to get signal while I was stuck in emergency calls only. Hopefully the Sensation will have better signal with the back panel antenna.

Love it. I was wondering whether I make a mistake choosing G2x :)

That is some bs. I went through three. I got my hopes up that LG had manned up to their disaster of a phone. BGR, I’m guessing the G2x that was sent was most likely cherry picked.

    • zps

what was the issue?  damn, i am glad i didn’t pull the trigger on one today.

      • Anonymous

they’re plagued by restarts, freezes, battery life, and terrible light bleed.

  • Dquestic

You missed the obvious LCD bleed then…

    • JJose

      MIne doesn’t

      • Anonymous

I don’t care if yours doesn’t. And you probably don’t know how to properly check, anyway.

      • JJose

Oh yeah sorry didn’t know that you are the one who knew who all WITH g2x had the issue. Thanks Master!

    iPhone killer.

    • A_g_ness

Haha, that would never happen!! The iPhone is the phone to have!!! I’m a former android user and I would never go back!!!

      • Randy Chapman

The iPhone is for appliance users and bimbos. Android stock phones also fill this need, but for those that want something much more technically customizable and that can be used to do so much more, Android can fit this bill as well.  iPhone is hobbled by Apple.

      • Steve Jobs

No he wants a phone with the latest software not last years that’ll eventually get updated to another out of date OS.

    • JJose

      its already dead

And I thought T-Mobile was losing people.

  • Bensworld

Iv’e had my G2X since June 24th not one issue.

    LOVE IT!

    • The Jew

June 24th?  Really?  You have had your phone since a month from now?

      • Anonymous

Ahhh I see what you did there nice!!!

  • http://www.theoutlierblog.com Arron C.

I returned mine. So did my fiancé. We both had LCD backlight bleed and my touchscreen was not responsive. When I unlocked the device, there was a second where the screen wouldn’t react to touch. Every time. It got old quick. I’m a fast user and being slowed down by the lock screen drove me crazy. Full disclosure, my brother and mother both kept theirs.

  • Amazingapple25

If somehow word got out that the G2x was in fact pulled, could current users call in and get a new one that is “free” of the defects??

  • Anonymous

I would hope so. It IS an extremely good phone. Probably the best one I’ve used. But there have definitely been some quality issues. It is an inconsistent experience.

  • JC

total bullshit.   its in “high demand” because everyone is returning them for a replacement.  I had to go through 5 G2x’s myself just to get one without screen bleeds and overheating/reboot issues.   T-mobile has gone from a 10 to a -1 in the last year.  seriously.  they straight up lie to people and their reps are not trained worth jack.  i called in today and my rep who owns a Vibrant 4G (SGS 4G) had never even heard of the SGS 2 which is already out across seas. or that the HTC Sensation is releasing June 8th, and they don’t even have the date in the system yet even know advertisements with the date have already popped up on google weeks ago.
she also said that all the reps have G2′s not G2x’s where she works.  but on the other hand she at least didn’t deny issues with the phone like every other rep, when their entire forum is flooded with complaints (1st good quality rep ive had in over a year). not to mention LG has already acknowledged problems officially in statements and announced a patch for these issues for LG Optimus 2x (European G2x) that they will be releasing soon.  AND they finished last with AT&T in customer satisfaction 2nd year in a row.  Don’t lie to people t-mobile. it just makes you look shady, which you seem to have become, unfortunately.   used to love this company….  oh and what happened to the Gingerbread update that’s been coming “soon” for over month?  i was told by 2 different tmobile reps and CSR’s, when i bought the phone the day it came out, that it would be a less than a week…..  ha

    • Xmonican

As someone who works for the company and owns the G2x, I certainly don’t appreciate your comments. My apologies on behalf of our reps for not knowing what phone is out OVERSEAS. I know for a fact that my team addresses both the pros and cons of the devices they sell. As for the release date of the Sensation, well..unless the reps werent paying attention to the HTC reps that came into the stores, everyone knows when it launches. Think a little before you clump every TMO rep as an imbecile.

      • Tmosucks

You are all imbeciles.  You are about to work for at&t…you will fit in perfectly

I just read they now have QC issues ^^

I love the phone and can’t complain. Stock android is refreshing. Was able to have gingerbread the first day. I wish every phone that is out had a stock alternative. Nothing like stock. I haven’t had a stock phone since my g1, no regrets with this purchase.

I subscribed online with t mobile on April 26 and I’ve already been through two G2x. I’ve had constant signal problems. The wife has three bars with LG optimus T and I only have one or no bars. I can’t get a steady signal no matter where I go. I went to the t mobile store and I had just one bar. Every one else had four bars and the G2x on display table showed four bars. What the hell man! So got a replacement and the same thing is happening. in addition the wifi is freezing up. It’s constantly showing errors. So I called up t mobile and I’m getting rid of this phone for something else.

The way this is phrased I have an alternative solution:

LG stopped or drastically slowed production to address the issues. In that case T-Mobile WOULD say they haven’t pulled the phone but inventory constraints are to blame…

I returned mine, I dont consider myself anal about my phone, but when i take it out of my pocket only to find out it has been off for God knows how long because it randomly shut off, that is just not something that i can accept.

Another reason why I’m glad I’m waiting on the Sensation.  Then there will be a problem with that thenI’l wish I had the G2x.  Oh well I still have my MYTouch (FacePalm’s self).

  • Trent

I have had mine since April 24th and it locks up and turns off while fully charged!  I think I will be returning mine and going to Sprint.

    • IWANTASPRINTIPHONE

      Good job friend

      • Midnightsongs

I have had this phone two days and its been feezing and now tonight decided to turn off and i can’t get it back on again, this is sick and i feel royally screwed by tmobile

  • Cjwoods Global

I recently recieved two T-Mobile G2X phones for my fiance and I. Within three days the phones began to have issues. My phone died and would not come back on for an entire day, and my fiance’s phone stopped ringing and still has no audile sound features. T-Mobile refused to replace my phone when it was dead [thank God it came back on, otherwise I would have not have an operable phone]. After numerous calls to T-Mobile customer service, we were told “sorry, we “will not” replace your phones” end of story. Needless to say, that was not acceptable to me or her, so we decided to leave T-Mobile for life after 21 days, 6 hours on customer service calls and absolutely no customer satisfaction. As far as we are concerned, T-Mobile is the worst cell phone company in America, and I now adamently oppose their merger with AT&T. We must STOP the merger! T-MOBILE SUCKS!
