Sprint and Motorola holding press event on June 9th

Breaking

We’ve just received an invite for a joint press event being held by Sprint and Motorola Mobility on June 9th. Sprint’s CEO, Dan Hesse, will speak during the press conference, as will Motorola Mobility’s CEO Sanjay Jha. We assume we’ll hear about new product launches from the two, as the invite confirms there will be “hands-on demonstrations of Sprint and Motorola’s latest collaborations.” We’ll be reporting live from the event.

sounds very interesting, wonder what it could possibly entail?

A locked bootloader phone(s) on a ghetto network.

You sound like someone who loves paying more for less… Who’s the dope now hah hah ha haha…. Go SPINT!!! Hesse will make Sprint number one within five years…

      • The Red Comet

Having spent the last couple years on Sprint with a SERO plan, can’t say that I agree with you.

      • Booyah

Wow a “ghetto network”! What does that even mean? Please explain how a wireless phone provider can have a “ghetto network” as you so eloquently put!

      • By-Tor

He’s just a troll.  Dont’ feed it.

      • The Red Comet

Sprint has neglected updating and maintaining the network where I live. Verizon has already rolled out LTE here and T-Mobile has HSPA+. When I look down at my Sprint phone and see “1X” it reminds me why I’ve become a Sprint hater.

      • Rememberme

So then your handle name “Booyah” is considered eloquent?

      • Anonymous

he cant cuz he’s too hurt that he has t-mobile and will be getting a notice in the mail saying his bill will double soon as AT&T signs on the dotted line.

      • DingleBerry

I like saving money on my “ghetto network”! Gives me extra money to buy me a “rock”!

      • Booyah

I also like saving money on my “ghetto network” I also love my “ghetto HTC EVO” and its “ghetto 4g speeds” now ill be able to buy diapers for my “ghetto baby” and combined with the food stamps I receive from the “gummint” I’m living like a “ghetto king”

Well Sprint has the best Network in So Cal and the lowest prices.. Thats bi-winning my friend

grass isn’t greener on the other side buddy, i will stay with the ghetto service and save a bunch of money thank you

  • IcyStorm

    The Photon 4G.

    • Anonymous

That’s my guess, too. Sprint will get its version of the Motorola Droid X2 with Wimax, which Sprint will call the Photon 4G. It has 540 x 960 resolution, 4.3-inch display and a dual-core processor. That’s a great start!

  • Anonymous

Sprint’s version of the Atrix I hope!

I would just die! I loathe AT&T, and I’ve considered switching back to them for the Atrix.

  • remy7

Atrix style 4G phone on Sprint??  If so, so long VZ. Bionic is never coming.

  • Sin City

Sprint’s device is more Bionic, not Atrix/X2.

  • http://www.droiddoes.com/ Norm

I’m sure they will really push the envelope like they did with the Kyocera Sucko. Is David Blaine the MC again? Either way I hope it’s a 4.3 touch screen device with a dual core processor, wimax and 8 MP camera running DROID OS 2.2 (upgradeable to 2.3 by Christmas 2012) because that would be such a game changer. Maybe even 3D too would be great. I love jerking it to spec sheets and bragging to iSheep who love things that work without constant hacking and modding.

    • Sin City

Have you ever played with the Echo? It’s a underrated device, though I don’t think it needed a big event for it.

    • http://infotainmentempire.blogspot.com Rob

Should come out with 2.3.4 honestly, I mean it’s already OUT.

But Norm, don’t ya want a Droid 3 on Sprint too??? Remember, that’s what I’m wanting and willing to switch to Verizon for it!!

      • Anonymous

agreed, but i wont switch to verzion for it. Their too expensive.

  • Anonymous

I know they are getting their own version of the Droid Pro and possibly the Atrix.  Both, obviously, under different names.  This was told to me by Retention, this weekend.

Sprint and Motorola are each so good at hemorrhaging customers on their own that one can only imagine how well they could do it together. . .until now.

    • Deval

Adding customers every quarter doesn’t seem to be hemorrhaging…perhaps you misread the title and saw T-Mobile?

Not a big motorola fan (specifically because of motoblur) but a 4.0-4.3 qhd screen, android 2.3, 8 mp camera, 1.3-2.0 mp front facing camera, 4G and keep unlimited TRULY UNLIMITED, I might have to take a serious look at this

    • Anonymous

i think sprint might ask them to leave blur off but im probably wrong and just having wishful thinking, i would love to finally see a stock high end android on sprint. But im pretty sure sprint will b the first to get the Nexus 3 due to google and sprints recent rage of business collaborations.

Honestly……I’m Hoping its a Bionic with 4G…I dont really care for the Droid X2. If Sprint can Get this out by the 4th of July…..I just may hesitate on the EVO 3D….

  • CHADIN2007

I wonder if Hesse brings their 4g booster bus to every conference Sprint has to show how slow their 4g speed is compared to others. I would love to be CEO for 6 mos. so I could actually get sprint on the right track. Dan along with there CTO and director of customer service should all be FIRED.

    • Deval

Pulling 9mbps down right now standing on the corner of 47th and 5th ave, in the heart of Manhattan, so not sure what exactly is considered slow? I also pull almost 10 at my house in Jersey, so I guess that’s slow?

I’m hoping to be at this event, should be fun to see what we will show.

It’s about time. I’m sick of Sprint only announcing 1 or 2 decent phones a year.

Awesome! Something to replace Samsung and HTC. Nice to have a device with good call quality AND reception. Not to mention build quality.

    • Anonymous

?? Motorola devices have always had sub-par build quality.  Just because they are using Android now doesn’t change that.  HTC has much better build quality than Motorola.  Not to mention how Moto batteries have constantly have charging issues.  Verizon selling a lot of them doesn’t change that.  Why do you think so many other carries stayed away from their CDMA and GSM products for so long after the RAZR?  Moto sucks and it saddens me that Sprint jumping back in bed with them on the CDMA side…

      • Anonymous

The only reason Motorola sucks is because they chose to go with Android!

      • Anonymous

yet moto hasnt sold as much phones as it had since the razr, n thanks to android its now back in the major talks of some of the top OEM’s. SMH at uneducated opinions. But i hope its two devices one like the Attrix but better and one like the Droid 3 but a lil nicer of a design.

    • Anonymous

so HTC doesnt have good call qaulity and reception and build quality?

      • Anonymous

I wouldn’t take offense… He is probably a Motorola… I say “More the Merry.” each brand has advantages and disadvantages.

  • Anonymous

Today we’ve come before you to talk about how our new improved blur sucks slightly less than they old blur.  I know you all can’t wait to get your hands on it.

  • Anonymous

This event will be swallowed up by talk of WWDC.

  • Wirelessmodz

they will be telling everyone that they are gettting the wait for it IPHONE ! YES THE IPHONE with wimax

    • Adam 27 Rogers

Yes. Seeing that has nothing to do with motorola. I’m sure that’s exactly what it is.
