Sony suffers another cyberattack

Security

Sony’s ongoing battle with cyberattacks has already left the personal data of over 100 million customers exposed, and now the company has fallen victim to yet another attack. Details are slim for the time being, but Reuters cites a report from Jiji news service in stating that roughly 8,500 people across three countries have been affected by this latest breach. Their personal information has been leaked as a result of an attack on Sony’s Greek website on Tuesday, though it is unclear exactly what data the hackers gained access to. Sony has not yet confirmed the attacks, but its Greek website, sony.gr, was back online at the time of this writing.

duke nukem is coming to Xbox, can’t get anymore classic than that

Damn Sony… catch a break! For what it’s worth, each attack seems to be getting progressively smaller. I have to wonder whether there isn’t some kind of overarching weakness in their security that’s being consistently exploited.

It’s like they’re slowly closing a door, and it’s harder to get in and out, but people are doing their damnedest.

    Come on hackers.
    Be nice.

DESTROY THEM FOR WHAT THEY DID(or tried to do) TO OUR PRECIOUS GEOHOT.
BLOOD WILL FLOW THROUGH THE STREETS.

shut up and stop being so fukkin cheap, if you want developers to keep developing amazing games, just buy the freakin game, i hate people this cheap for real

      • http://www.theBeowolfe.com The Beowolfe

It’s not about the developers or being cheap, it’s about showing one of the largest corporations that they can’t push their customers around. I refuse to purchase an electronic consumer product, only to be told what I am allowed to do with it and how I am allowed to use it, especially if I am doing nothing illegal.

when people hack their PS3 is basically for playing games for free, and that’s illegal everywhere, cuz in case you didnt know, it’s called “stealing”

YOU agreed to their Terms of Service. I respect your right to not buy their product, but you can’t agree to their terms and then cry because it’s not to your liking.

And for anyone who says they took away the linux option….you didn’t have to update your PS3′s firmware if it was so utterly important. Once again you agreed to the new TOS.

Yeah I am gonna agree with woody here, you dont want someone to limit how you can use a product then dont effing by the product. this isnt effing sony this is effing my credit score and putting me at risk for identity theft.

Yea, but SONY made it required to even do anything online.  At purchase, some people were sold on the idea that they could run linux AND also enjoy online play.  They breached that by requiring the update.  THAT was real messed up.

You obviously don’t understand the user agreement you agree to when you sign up for an account with everything online. Of course you don’t, because you don’t fn read them. The product belongs to you. The service you subscribe too.

The FBI should have gotten involved a long time ago in this situation. Lock these asses up for life.

Sony – just pull the network cables from the servers with all the personal data for awhile, thanks.

  • SuzieQ

I used trust Sony. Now they are a joke and I am done with them FOREVER!

    • http://twitter.com/homescrub homescrub

      FOREVER!

Of this keeps happening and Sony keeps sacrificing us to these fucking assholes that are breaching their security, then Sony should be obligated to buy us all xbox360s. I’ve stood pretty damn loyal with Sony through the years but if this proceeds to.go on, we have to protect ourselves and hard earned money. Sucks to say, but Sony is letting us get robbed

  • Aalen56

Despite this, I went ahead and bought a ps3 from target. they have a pretty decent deal over there.

    • http://twitter.com/homescrub homescrub

yeah thats nice.  at least the hardware will love you for buying it :D

Good Lord! What’s happening with Sony? Now, I think there is something wrong with the picture. I guess there must be a foul play or something. I have been continuing to follow this cyber attack story of Sony and I think what’s happening is just too much for them. This news is not enough though but I would like some link where this issue came from…

    FOR FUCK SAKE SONY!

  • drew dogg

Making me think twice about what info I add (if any) to my Sony play.
